There is no doubt that Les Deux Freres is in a beautiful location. However, it is misleading to call it a "hotel". In fact, it's a restaurant with rooms. It has no proper reception, no lounge, bar, garden or car parking. Food is generally good, as it should be, priced at 53 Euros for a three course dinner. The weak point is the desserts. They were about the standard one would expect of something bought in an average patisserie. The bedrooms are not expensive for this part of the world but the two we used were very small. With two people in the room, you are constantly having to squeeze by each other. In room 2, the bed is so close to the walls that there is no room for bedside tables. The bathroom needs refurbishment. It is looking tired and the shower is an old fashioned "over-the-bath" fitting. Room 4 is equally small although it has a modern shower.
I cannot recommend this establishment. If you accept its limitations as a restaurant with small bedrooms, and there are no glitches involving Mr. Bonestroo, you might have a nice time. If anything goes wrong, don't expect an apology or sympathetic handling.
We had a booking for 4 and when we arrived, the table was only set for 3. We asked for bread and were given butter that sat on the table for 20 mins and got the bread way later.
We chose a wine from the menu only to be told by the manager that the wine was not stocked anymore as he prefers to source his own wine. Why not but why list the other wine on the menu?!
The menu was quite strange considering the restaurant is in the heart of the Cote d’Azur! Why serve lychees and coco milk instead of focusing on French classics. This would make a lot more sense. The beef was chewy, need I go on?
All in all, we sorely missed Willem and his impeccable client service and fine food.
I also recommend the Picasso Museum in Antibes.
It was a wonderful trip!
On arrival, NO ONE was there.
Nobody picked up the phone either. The door is locked.
Locals came to tell us the hotel has been shut for 4 months.
There is a « Vente de fonds de commerce « FOR SALE sign stuck on the window.
