We had to make a last minute trip to Marseille to collect Emergency Transport Documents from the British Consulate following the theft of our passports in Nice. So we aimed for the Dock area, saw the Belle-Vue Hotel and literally walked in. We were kindly welcomed and allocated the modestly priced room (also well soundproofed at night) that we were after. The hotel has a bar/restaurant/breakfast room overlooking the port with a really lovely atmosphere and delightful staff. Given our circumstances, it was perfect.

What a great hotel! The staff are all friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was simple but very nice. The room was clean and perfect and the view….what a view! The bar in the evening played relaxing Jazz with the bar staff able to make any number of cocktails! If I’m ever back in the area I would definitely return here as well as highly recommend to Friends and family.

We asked for early luggage deposit and romantic decor, and Hotel Belle-Vue accommodated both requests free of charge. The decor was especially exceptional! Besides that, the port view is great, and while the room is a bit small, it is clean and in good condition. We would stay here again.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The room was chic and roomy, and with a double-windowed view over the Vieux Port that we could scarcely tear ourselves away from. Fantastic bathroom, loads of hanging space, and a very comfortable bed. The Caravelle bar is a hugely in-demand and smart place to drink. The colleagues throughout were uniformly lovely. We stayed in room 25 which has a side view of the port which was lovely. The shower was one of the best I have ever used! The air conditioning worked well but when I asked Zidane in reception if we could have it cooler he did and it was perfect. The breakfast was given to us on a tray - croissant, bread, jam, fruit salad and fromage blanc, coffee and juice, with great views over the port. The bar in the evening was fantastic too and we had a very simple but delicious supper with panisses- yum!

The very friendly staff makes you feel welcome. The hotel has a jazzy character. Room and facilities super clean and the bed was the best I've slept in for weeks. Great breakfast. Excellent views on the old harbor of Marseille

When I booked, I was allocated a room in which there was a very extreme and unbearable smell of rot from the bathroom. Due to the volume of the bar and the harbor in front of the house, the window could not be left open. I pointed this out directly to the front desk, but didn't receive any help or even a message for several hours. It wasn't until I reported back to reception several hours later that I found out that the employee had finished his shift without notifying me or housekeeping. The new employee could no longer reach anyone due to the late hour. He moved us to the next room, but it had the same smell, but at least a bathroom door that could be locked. The next morning we canceled the stay and the receptionist promised us to refund the money for the remaining two nights (almost 400€!). This was almost three months ago and I have not heard from the hotel since. Except for one request, how I rate the stay. Here you have my answer. Apart from the problems described, the hotel is clearly overpriced for what it offers. The views from the rooms are fantastic, but that's about the only positive thing. Rooms are very small, noticeably worn even in the higher categories. The breakfast has only a very limited choice, at least we weren't shown any alternatives apart from bread, croissants, jam and coffee.…
