The Grand Hotel Beauvau is located in the center of Marseilles, opposite the Vieux Port. Legendary writers and musicians have stayed in this charming hotel. This exceptional place is a reflection of Provence and its decoration is a beautiful combination of old furniture and Provençal fabrics. The hotel has an incredible view over the Vieux Port and the sea beckons for escape and travel. (MGallery collection).

WOW WOW WOW, what a hotel!!! The location in old port was perfect, that staff were so accomodating and the rooms were generous in size, clean and welcoming. This hotel is a winner, I wish I stayed here for more nights than 1.

We have very mixed feelings about this place. Our first room had a very nice view but with no a/c in April (they said it was illegal to use it before a certain date) the room which got afternoon sun got very warm. Opening the window was not a possibility as it was extremely noisy. Our second room was quieter but again, the room was too warm for us. The one thing we liked was the bar area. It has a nice view of the port and is quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed talking to other people staying there.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and perfectly located to soak up the old port atmosphere! Restaurants and shops all around the hotel. Beds were comfy, rooms were clean and spacious and the views over the harbour were incredible! Soooo glad we made the decision to stay here!

Rooms are well sized and accommodations and proximity to the old port and main city area are wonderful. Staff was friendly and took care of any special requests. The bar was nice and had good view of harbor. Some of the restaurants surrounding the hotel - away from the harbor, are not particularly fond of serving English speaking patrons.

My 2 sisters and I spent a week at this hotel in February, 2023. I was horrified to discover on my 3rd day there that 3 pieces of my jewellery and an unopened bottle of perfume were stolen from my room. The Manager, Mr. David Bynau, failed to meet with us when requested. The Deputy Manager and Reception Staff were equally as unhelpful and lied and misled us, informing us that we would be compensated through the Hotel's Insurance. We informed the Police and Tourist Office of this theft and they were quite shocked at our treatment by the Hotel; they actually phoned the Hotel in our presence. Since my return to Ireland, the Hotel have reneged on their promise of compensation, and I only received a 3 lined email from their Insurance Company (in French) informing me of their decision not to compensate. I most definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Marseille. But this will not deter me from returning to Marseille as, other than this horrible experience, I loved my stay and the people of Marseille were so hospitable and welcoming. E. O'Meara.

Dear Ms O’Meara, First of all, I am very sorry that your stay in our hotel did not go as you would have liked. I will not comment on the form of your message, it corresponds to the threats you made to us before your departure. As already said, we cannot wrongly accuse our team and we have stayed by your side for all the formalities to be completed... I also immediately took the necessary steps with our insurer, which analyzes based on the facts whether our liability is engaged or not. As mentioned, all our rooms are equipped with safes to secure your precious belongings to avoid precisely this type of situation and the instructions for use are available in the room in French and in English. Finally, be aware that your remarks absolutely do not correspond to the image of our establishment, both with our customers and local institutions who very often highlight the quality of our hotel, we are also recognized for this... We have never been the victim of theft and I have full confidence in my teams who devote themselves daily to ensuring the best quality of service... Best regards David BYNAU General Manager

I travelled to this hotel with 2 of my sisters in February 2023 and I was really looking forward to this trip. On the 2nd day of our stay my sister realized that some of her valuable jewelry was missing from her wardrobe along with an unopened bottle of duty free perfume. Someone had to enter her room and search through her belongings to find these items. Needless to say we were horrified to think this could happen in a 4 star hotel. We met with the deputy managers immediately to report same. They could not have been more indifferent to our complaint and insisted that they could not check cameras on key fobs until after the weekend as there was no technician available until Monday of the following week. We were led to believe that their insurance would cover the valuables and that this would not be a problem to them. Now we are back home the story is very different as they are not taking any responsibility for the theft. This experience has left us very upset and very angry. It was the treatment by management which has made us so very very angry. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody for these reasons.

On my first visit my earrings were stolen, after much consultation with staff they mysteriously appeared back in my room. Otherwise I had a good experience, views from bar & room spectacular. So I returned with my 2 sisters in February 23. My sister’s jewellery (3 pieces & perfume) were stolen from her room. The management treated us with incredible indifference (Mr David Bynau refused to meet us despite our request). We reported the incident to the police & tourist office, they were very kind & shocked by the incident. We were misled & lied to by staff, told we could claim from their insurance- now that we are home they have not followed through & they told us claim from our own insurance. We are disgusted by our treatment, I would never return to hotel Beauvau, I would never recommend this terrible establishment. I love Marseilles & it’s people - I will definitely return to a different hotel.

We took a spring break in the vibrant city of Marseille, staying at the Grand Hotel. We had a room just to the side of the front, still giving a brilliant view of the old port. The room appeared to be recently refurbished to a high standard and was very comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful and I’m glad that we were on a special deal with breakfast, as the buffet breakfast is really good. The breakfast room and the small bar provide those those wonderful views of the old port that come with the hotel’s great location.

The hotel is among the oldest in Marseille. It needs a bit of TLC but is quite comfortable. The selling point is its location, in the centre of the Old Port. If you stay in the city the Old Port is the place to be. The nerve centre of nightlife. What you can't find on the waterfront is nearby in the squares leading off from it. We chose a room with a balcony view of the port. Boats, boats and more boats. To the left, way up the hill, was a view of the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde, an iconic landmark of the city. You can get to it outside the hotel by bus or a little urban train. The hotel does a cooked breakfast but not dinner. The staff are extremely good.

Generally this hotel was great. The people were very nice and spoke enough English (for us) and were generally happy to help in any way. The common areas were all beautiful. We opted for a 7th floor suite - The Chopin Room. Honestly, the room was pretty tired as far as furniture, carpeting and window treatments. The Carpeting had stains on it. The piping on a few of the chairs was coming off as well. We did have a chance to look at the other room in this class and it seemed to be in better shape. The breakfast was wonderful and that room and the adjacent bar on the 1st floor had great views. The patio/deck had amazing views of the port. I think that as a tribute to the great employees who work there, they should redo at least this room. Here are some tips. The bar on the first floor will give you a bucket of ice for your room if you ask. You need to insert your room key in the holder near the door for the electric to work. We arrived mid day and had to be let out a block away because they block off the street to car traffic at some point during the day. The front desk people are great. They will sell you bus/Metro tickets there and make restaurant recommendations etc. There is a Monoprix grocery store just a block away. There is a mini bar in the room that was complimentary. There is a Nespresso machine in the room and 4 servings of coffee and milk. Again, this is such a nice property with a great location and staff! Maybe all of the other rooms are just great and just Chopin was in need of help. Enjoy!
