Great location right on the old port. Taxi from airport was 70 Euros.

Staff friendly and helpful. Based on previous TA reviews, I requested a room on the higher floors to avoid noise from the harbour at night. They put us on the very top floor – great views.

The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had 2 basins, liquid soap and moisturiser and a hairdryer. Separate shower with good pressure which was great. Hook for my shower cap was on the wall – excellent.

Two light bulbs had gone – one in the bathroom and one in the wardrobe area. Neither were replaced whilst we were there. We wondered why the cleaners had not noticed this? The handle fell off the bathroom door a couple of times but my husband was able to fit it back on.

Breakfast was a buffet and was pretty good overall. Coffee was out of a machine and not so nice. For a 4 Star hotel I would have expected proper coffee.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

Quick word on Marseille itself – there is quite a bit to do but we struggled to find enough restaurants around the old port. It looks like there are a lot but most of them are just bars and many are outdoor seating only. It was actually quite chilly so we didn’t want that but preferred to sit down to a proper meal in a proper restaurant inside. We found a couple of good ones but not much else. You would need to look in other areas of Marseille I think.

We had an absolutely fantastic time and felt really well looked after by the staff at La Residence du Vieux Port. The view from our prestige room on the 5th floor was one of the best views in Marseille with the cathedral on the hill in centre vision behind the yachts. We loved the breakfast at the hotel and we thought it was worth the premium.

The staff provided amazing support in organising airport pick ups and suggesting itineraries. Just in a long weekend we managed to visit the old town, the prison island, enjoy the port markets and even go to a day trip to the beautiful town of Cassis through the national park.

The port is full of activity all day, even in the early morning hours so if you have sensitivity to sounds, do take ear plugs. The room was clean, the bed was absolutely superb and the bathroom was perfectly fine. The only thing about the bathroom was that it took us a while to work out how the bath tabs work, but otherwise all was parfait. Merci beaucoup - we will be back!

This an extremely good position right on the port. We had double room with a port view on the second floor and there was no noise disturbance whatsoever.
We only stayed for two nights but it was an extremely clean and comfortable hotel.

We ate out both nights so I can't speak for the restaurant, although I do know they have a very good chef in house.

We have stayed on the opposite side of the port previously but given a choice I would return to this side for convenience.

I rated this hotel "average" because of the view from the bedroom. Period. For a 4-stars hotel the hotel is lacking in many ways. Checking was chaotic as many groups arrived at the same time, and even though we were there waiting for hours, they checked us in last. There was only one person at the front desk who kept on telling us "this is the last room I have" even if our reservation was made several months ago. We were given a room on the first floor (the lobby would be ground floor). While the bedroom was standard, the bathroom was just terrible. It's the kind of bathroom where you shower right on the floor next to the toilet and tiny sink (no barrier between shower and the rest). Needless to say the whole bathroom would be soaked after a shower. The bathroom looks old and dusty, I had to sanitize the hair dryer and the rest. It was highly uncomfortable to use the bathroom. Even if we don't stay in the room much, I would have not picked this hotel if I had seen the bathroom that was given to me. For a 4 stars, nothing else was provided free of charge. You have the option of having a modest breakfast brought to your room at 20 Euros per person! I think the hotel is overrated, the view and the colorful decoration in the lobby get all the attention to overshadow the aged and poorly kept hotel.

Dear Madam, We are extremely sorry to read that your experience in our hotel failed with yours expectations. It's totaly understandable that arriving in the same time that groups is not pleasant and we're sorry for the wait at the reception. Concerning the room, we regret that the room category booked disappointed you and we kindly recommend you to verify the description of the room booked for your next reservation. indeed, the room you booked ( Deluxe room) is located in the low floor of the hotel , first or second and propose italian shower for PRM people. We have other room category bigger and on higher floor that would have been more adapted to yours expectations . Also, our 24h reception is at your disposal for any disconveniences during your stay, feel free to approach them. We thank you for taking the time to bring all that points to our attentions and be sure taht we will take action to prevent a reccurence . Hopping that we could soon welcome you again to give you the quality of stay that we used to offer . Kind regards- Magali Front desk assistant

Great in many ways. All rooms have direct views of the Old Port, and all have balconies. The location is fabulous. Our king size bed was great and both the room and the bathroom were large. Breakfast is optional but very good and large. The restaurant (Relais 50) is notable and does need a reservation in advance. The right-next-door Restaurant L’Hippocampe was our favorite so I highly recommend that. L'Hippocampe ("The Seahorse") has a fabulous Spaghetti avec Fruits des Mer. And also has a single portion version (hard to find) of bouillabaisse, for 38 euros. Really good - and very rich. It and next door neighbor Miramar also have “real” bouillabaisse for two, and supposedly Miramar’s is the best one in the area.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights on our honeymoon at the beginning of April, and we couldn't have found a more beautiful and welcoming place to begin our honeymoon! We had a view of the old port and upon our arrival the front desk staff was so friendly and couldn't say enough congratulations!
Our first morning we decided to have our breakfast delivered for room service, and they were very timely to when we had asked for, and delivered a HUGE breakfast tray! The food was absolutely delicious too - and I am pretty picky about my breakfast foods. Honestly, it was probably one of the best, if not the best breakfast we had on our whole 2 week trip!
Like some other reviewers mentioned, it is not close to the airport (but not many places are in Marseille), but it is located right in the heart of everything you would want to do in Marseille! We also found that an Uber ride was 42 Euros, compared to a taxi ride at almost 70!
I have always wanted to come to Marseille ever since I was little, but knew it wasn't always known for being safe. I couldn't have asked for a better experience on my first trip to this city, and it all started with the wonderful staff and beautiful hotel!

I was rapt as soon as I walked into my first-floor "deluxe room with sea view". The decor was fab, the spaces were well-designed and practical, and the view was a delight. A nice touch was the sunhat on the bed! The location was ideal, right by the water and within walking distance of all the main sights as well as many shops and eateries. The bed was comfy, the wifi worked well and the desk space was good. The safe was a little small. I enjoyed room service breakfast and dinner, both were fresh and tasty. There were a couple of minor housekeeping issues (items not replaced) which were soon sorted by the main staff member on reception, who was also very helpful in regard to booking a taxi to the station at the end of my stay. Definitely recommended!

This couldn’t be better for a short stay in one of Europe’s most vibrant, interesting and diverse cities. The rooms with balconies overlooking the old port offer stunning views, either through the floor to ceiling windows or at the little table on the terrace. Great for people watching while you reflect on a day’s walking or visiting galleries and museums. The rooms are very well equipped, quiet, comfortable and a decent size. The staff are friendly and very helpful (lots of advice on interesting areas to visit restaurants etc). We didn’t opt for the breakfast (pricey as in many hotels) but popped round to the streets behind the hotel for coffee and croissants in the local cafes.

Great stay . The room was fairly basic but very clean. we were blown away by the view. We greatly enjoyed our dinner in the hotel restaurant . Housekeeping staff were charming as was the male receptionist who smilingly and effectively dealt with our complicated questions as to to get our car in and out of the carpark during road closures . Many thanks to all the team. We look forward to our next visit.

I was lucky enough (well, it was more than luck; I planned it) to stay in the Hôtel la Résidence du Vieux-Port for the fête nationale (July 14), so I got to see the parade, the jets with their tri-color trails, the parachutists and the amazing fireworks while nursing a pastis on my balcony overlooking the Vieux-Port. Beyond this peak experience, I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The location is great for exploring Marseille (an historic, lively, multicultural city you need to know), the rooms are a good size, the midcentury design is fun and the staff are always helpful and friendly. (I didn’t opt for the breakfast so I can’t comment on that.) Highly recommended, even without the fireworks!

The ferry is directly across the port if you are looking out the front door. It is about a 1/4 mile walk (along the dock) and you can't miss the ferry dock. I recall the fare was reasonable (less than ten euro). It takes you to the national park which consists of several islands which are very close to shore. The first stop is only about 30 minutes away. The first stop is a lovely island with a lovely beach (about a 1/2 mile hike from port). The walk you take is scenic, and overall it is a wonderful day. Take refreshments and towels, etc - concessions were closed when I was there. Ferries run all day.
