I booked into this Hotel at the beginning Covid-19 lockdown in France. Staff were very helpful, in particular Olivier who went above and beyond to help and make me feel welcome! What a star! The facilities were spotless and the reception had even printed out the forms we needed to carry regarding our travel. The cafe and restaurant could not be opened because of the lockdown, but staff made me coffee and provided hot water for my cuppa soup. I got a good night's sleep in clean and comfy bed, despite being next door to a busy railway station. Ibis are thoroughly recommend, I;ve used them in several countries and always find them good.

This hotel is right next to the train station, that has food court to pick up quick sandwiches or snacks, like McDonalds. The rooms in the hotel are very small, with the smallest bathrooms, but the rooms and hotel are clean. The desk clerks are friendly and very helpful. There is a bar and restaurant at hotel. One advantage of this hotel also, unlike other hotels in the area, you don't have to walk up a hundred steps with your luggage to get to the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in Septebmer 2023. I'm a solo traveller who came to see Marseille.

The hotel isn't bad. Just slightly out of the way for a 60 year old like me.. Marseille is very hilly and the hotel (and train station is perched on the top of a hill). The train station is right next door (as is the bus to the airport), and there is a metro stop.
There is a handy Carrefour just across from the station.

Hotel positives - the breakfast is lovely. Buffet style and the outdoor terrace is nice and peaceful in the morning.
I had a standard double room which was good enough for me solo but I can imagine a couple bumping into each other.
The bathroom/shower is adequate.
The room has air-con which was a godsend in the the 30+ degree heat outside.

Negatives - there is no safe in the room. If you want to look up your valuables you do it at reception at cost.
There is no free luggage store for that last day. There are lockers you can use charging from 6 euros depending on size.

The hotel does have a bar/cafe. I used it for a beer once (7 euros) and didn't again.

I would class this a 3 star hotel with basic facilities. However as a stop for visiting Marseille and seeing the sights, not bad. In hindsight, for me, I wish I'd chosen somewhere nearer the port with more bars/restaurants nearby.

I am disgusted.

I made a reservation through Booking (without free cancellation, to be fair) in this hotel for my mother who had to meet with my sister who works on Costa Crociere but unfortunately the ship, due to strikes in the city, no longer stops in Marseille. I call Booking to ask if it was possible to obtain a cancellation with penalty or a date change and the operator, super helpful and courteous, tells me that the structure has made no concessions before my request and my problem and that they could at most accept another guest in my mother's place on the same date, which is useless to me.
I understand being strict and following the rules, but I have certainly not asked to cancel the reservation without paying anything.

You should be ashamed of yourselves

Dovreste vergognarvi.

Stayed here for two nights and I’m glad it wasn’t longer. The hotel is listed as a three star hotel but it felt like 2 stars MAXIMUM. Only stay here if you want the bare minimum. The room is extremely small with a tiny bathroom and even smaller shower. I stayed with my partner and we found ourselves bumping into things/eachother constantly. He could barely fit in the shower. Only two pillows on the bed. No mini bar or kettle. No tea or coffee. Be prepared to wipe your mouth with toilet paper because there are no tissues. Would not recommend and would never come back. I expected more from Ibis. This hotel should be listed under Ibis Budget because it did not feel like a 3 star hotel. Go elsewhere. Only positive is the 2 minute walk to Marseille Saint Charles Station.

Our 3-star ibis hotel does not offer the features that you can find in 4-star hotels like Novotel or Mercure. The rates we offer are related to the services you can find in more economical range hotels. I suggest you in the future to switch to a range more appropriate to your desires. Yours sincerely:)

Stayed two nights. Located very close to the train station.
When I arrived the room was hot and stuffy, but I was told that the A/C had been turned off for the season. I had to sleep with the window open, but street noise starts very early in the morning.
Soundproofing is generally lacking and one can hear noise from other rooms, especially slammed doors. Fortunately it quieted down after midnight.
The key card quit working after 4 hours.
Tiny room and bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. Minimal amenities: only one small waste basket (in the bathroom), no electric kettle. Two available power outlets. No toiletries provided other than liquid hand soap. In the bathroom there were two thin bath towels and a bath mat; no hand towels. The shower cabin was very small and had absolutely zero shelf space: the only place to put toiletries, comb, etc. was the floor.
Average wifi.
Reasonably friendly staff.
Overall the hotel is too spartan for the price paid.

We stayed here because of the convenience to the train station. I wish we’d gone on to a different place despite our early train.
The hotel staff overall was friendly on arrival. Not so much in the later evening however.
Our non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and we changed rooms. It’s noisy and there’s absolutely no air circulation. They had no portable fans and actually told me to just open my window. We did and were forced to listen to screaming men and noise from the station all night.
The bed was relatively comfortable however their “queen” bed is two twins pushed together with a gap in the middle. The pillows are hard and dense and they had no extras available.
You’re provided with 2 thin old towels and a mat. No hand towels.
We’re not picky travelers but honestly there’s no way this is a 3 star hotel.
The restaurant is an absolute joke. Our worst meal in France was a cold slab of “burger” and a rock hard bun. When I mentioned this to the waiter he shrugged. I slapped my bun on the table and tried to stab it for the comedy. He offered to bring me another piece of bread. I declined. Don’t waste your time eating there… you’re more likely to get a better burger at MacDos in the station! 😂 .. seriously.
We needed a plug extension in the room to plug in a C-Pap machine and phone charger at the same time since there’s only one outlet in room. They had extras and handed me a filthy, sticky one .. which gave me an indication of how things are behind the scenes, sadly. (See picture)
I find it interesting that the Covid protocols are listed here yet never saw anyone actively cleaning and the outlet adapter certainly shows lack of cleanliness.
We won’t return here and frankly we’re getting tired of Ibis coming up short. There’s no excuse fir dirty.
This place needs a very deep cleaning from top to bottom.

First, the hotel is just outside the station- less than 2 minutes walk. second, the entry into the hotel is as seen in the pix. little walk through and people sitting and enjoying the silence. lobby is friendly and welcoming. there is restaurant inside with lively TV/music. receptionists are welcoming and checkin was fast. nice corridors on the 2nd floor and the room for three was spacious. a sofa cum bed was comfortable. window overlooking the parking lot. gives privacy. from the hotel one can take a metro ticket 5.20 euros for 24 hours and go anywhere. the breakfast is part in restaurant and outdoors - the latter is heavenly. little fruit and vegetable plants. very good fair- detox water, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, tea, coffee, fresh orange juice you can make for self,...good for vegetarians too. would recommend to everyone. only positives for this hotel and it is well priced. in night one can jsut sit in open and enjoy the silence. Go for it.

I am admirer of Ibis concept of practical hotels located near train stations .. compact room sizes without much compromise. This hotel has excellent location and you can see trains and platforms from the room window. Check in was super quick. Rooms are nice with fresh Towels and nice bedsheets as well as pillows. Wifi is also good.
However, drinking water is a big issue . After all how
much water you can buy and bring from outside . Me and my wife consume 3 to 5 litres of water a day. Ibis does not provide water in the rooms nor they have any water or ice dispenser. They don’t even give electric kettles in the room to make tea and coffee. This is such a basic thing. They may not give tea coffee sachets but kettles are a must. We carry our own tea coffee and even cups. I visited the bar several times to get drinking water and hot water for tea coffee. The staff did give but with a poker face.
For the lack of this basic facility I have reduced 2 stars.

This is supposed to be a reasonably priced hotel but at €141.00 it’s nothing of the sort. When we arrived the receptionist was quite Curt in asking me to put my mask on, which I did. However, we asked for a premier room and got a basic room with a pull down sofa. (No Coffee or Tea in the room) The air-conditioning hardly worked but the bed was very comfortable. I’m sorry Ibis, but I have paid a lot less and got a lot more. This hotel needs a complete refurbishment and it’s staff retrained. The rooms are worth around €60.00 and until it’s been upgraded will never stay here again.
