Great location great staff just first class. The staff at this hotel made a memorable visit to Marseille even better, the food at the restaurant and at breakfast was also very good. The location made for easy access to many of the sites highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel for a long weekend and had the most perfect stay. Staff were extremely accommodating and helpful - we were upgraded to the harbour view, (which was truly beautiful), checked in 4 hours early and had complimentary treats and a welcome drink for my husbands birthday! Concierge were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and top sights to visit. The location was perfect for great views of the port and only a 15 mins walk away from the metro, buses, museum, restaurants, and bars. The rooftop bar was a plus and great place to grab a drink with a view. Highly recommend - we couldn't be happier with our stay.

Some part of the hotel building and rooms are a bit old-fashioned but the location is quiet while offering beautiful scenic views of Marseille's Old Port and Sea. The conciergerie and reception staff were throughout very professional and very capable of providing the perfection of service à la Française. Both Christian and Valli were very helpful in finding excellent restaurant locations for business travellers such as ourselves. The stay was throughout seamless and stress-free. Bravo !!

When you have the best location overlooking the harbor, a nice upgrade to a room with large terrace, a young and energetic team and you feel warmly welcome everywhere in the hotel you just can't go wrong. Don't look for other options in Marseille, Sofitel is THE property to stay.
Thank you to Paul the GM and his team !

Upon checking in we were offered an upgrade which we greatly accepted. We had booked for a week so was good to have that acknowledged. However upon getting to the room it was obvious that it was in need of a good renovation, with worn carpets, wallpaper lifting at the edges and a very strange and impractical set up for tea and coffee. Had to ask for a kettle which needed to be plugged in on the floor as there was no space !!! This initial impression was enforced when it became clear that the air conditioning and fridge were not working.
We needed to report the lack of a/c and fridge a number of times and finally asked the manager to come and look at it for herself before a technician came to look at it. The fridge was replaced after that on the 4th day
And to add icing to the cake, upon leaving the hotel, they arranged a car for us and after telling us it would be 80 Euro the driver attempted to charge us 107 Euro.
Having stayed in numerous Accor hotels around the world, this one was the most disappointing. Unless the rooms get a major overhaul we will not be staying there again.
We did get acknowledgment of our feedback in the form of flowers but the overall service was very poor and certainly not the experience we were expecting for a Sofitel brand

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Sofitel. We wanted to be downtown to discover around the old harbour. The Sofitel is very well located for that. It has a magnificent view from the restaurant deck on the old harbour. The room was in a quiet zone but too far to get the wifi correctly and it was an inconvenience for my husband who needed it for business. They were no reception number on the phone so we had to get to the lobby to ask for it and for some pillows. The ones in the room were not what you expect in a 5 stars hotel. Because of the covid situation, the number of people in the spa was restricted to eight which turned out to be nice because the place is very small! then the open hours of the spa should be longer to accommodate more people. The breakfast buffet is very good. The staff recognise some of our complains and did some gesture when we left.

The Sofitel is nicely located on the south tip of the Old Harbour boosting great views.
Unfortunately the place has seen better days and even the top rooms facing the Vieux Port (at least ours) are worn out and need a refurbishment.
We booked the place also for it’s (small) Spa. Although you had to reserve the place was always cramped with hordes of people, unclean and not inviting at all.
The proximity to a loud and big Street rounds up to my advise: book somewhere else.

Super nice room with a great view of the port and its boats. Big tub, large super comfy bed, and nice ammenities.
The restaurant on the rooftop serves a delicious and generous breakfast (although it’s a tad overpriced at 29€), with a splendid view of Marseille

If you like to sleep before midnight - then avoid this hotel at all costs. Next door is a nightclub on the marina that plays loud music every night; and only closes at just after midnight. Not an issue if you only sleep after midnight - but trying to get sleep before then is impossible.
Breakfast is weird. The staff sit you down, and then you don’t hear from them again. They don’t deliver pastries to your table, don’t ask if you want a coffee etc. Seems there’s only 1-2 people working at breakfast. Either severely understaffed or just rude and ignorant.
I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world, and the number one thing I look for is a relaxing and comfortable stay. Due to the nightclub issue alone, and the extremely loud music, I feel this hotel is not deserving of a 5 star.

Extremely disappointing from arrival to check out, every staff I interacted with was unhelpful and incompetent. Upon arrival from 20 hour flight, room was told to be ready at a time, turns out 3 hours later it is finally ready. No apologies or offer to help with baggage, or perhaps a drink while you wait? Room is average, nothing special.
Upon “fast check out” which is supposed to be helpful, no receipt is emailed to me. I have to call internationally, and on the phone they take all my info- redirect me back to the menu, before finishing assistance. Finally, someone sends me my receipt and I find I’ve been charged a parking fee for every night… I did not rent a car or bring a car to the hotel. No changes with “fast check out” WHAT A SCAM! Beware.

Charlie2609 asked a question Sept 2019
Ashby de la Zouch, United Kingdom44 contributions29 helpful votesMy husband has a phobia of heights if more that 5 or 6 floors high!
The external photos of the hotel do not look that high (but hard to tel from street map!) however e photos of the rooftop bar and glass walls is making him few uneasy! Can anyone tel me how high it is and if it ‘feels’ high as in, is there a drop as well to make it feel higher?
I think the views from the Restaurant are wonderful and they look out over a wide vista of city and harbor, however it one goes right to the windows they certainly are a high vista and the terrace below is a few (2-3) stories down. BUT IT IS NOT LIKE STANDING ON A HIGH BRIDGE OR IN A MANHATTAN HIGHRISE!
Hi, our shower was a walking shower, with no lip or step to get in, but there were no handles. Our room wasn't specifically a disabled room, that is just how the shower was
LittleBritain asked a question Jan 2018
West Sussex, United Kingdom619 contributions298 helpful votesDo all rooms have a walk in shower? This is very important as travelling with elderly mother. Thanks
Sorry can't answer this question but I don't think this would suit an elderly person the hotel is a long walk out of town and you would spend all your time going up and down in the lifts and nothing is really easily accessible for elderly people at this hotel. There is quite a climb up to the hotel front doors from the street.
