Although only rated 3 stars, this hotel has everything. Very clean with a taste breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. I asked for a taxi at 700 am and the manager invited the driver in for coffee at 645 to make sure I had a ride. Metro is right in front and a huge mall is one block in back. Dozens of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Will definitely stay here again.
My husband and I stayed at Le Rhul for 2 nights and really enjoyed the property and the views. Definitely book a room with a view, as this will make your stay memorable. The room was fairly large with a roomy bathroom. There was a fridge in the room which was an added bonus (we would have loved a coffee maker, but there wasn't one). The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. There is no elevator, so be prepared to drag luggage up the stairs. Staff was friendly, and spoke a little English, but they were certainly happy to help out with my French, which I appreciated. Our room had a very large window that opened up to the water. In the daytime, you can see all kinds of sailboats, swimmers, and people climbing on the rocks below. At night, you can spot a lighthouse in the distance. The restaurant could be improved, but we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Breakfast consisted of yogurt and bread. Not really worth the 10 Euro price, but hey - you have the view to look at while eating in bed. There's a busy road out front, but this didn't affect our sleep at all. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the area that are walkable, and the pizza place nearby was to die for! We will certainly return when visiting Marseille in the future.…
If “Le Rhul “ is an institution in the great city of Marseille with an amazing setting and location, it seems the owners have way passed the recovery stage sitting on a reputation made thanks to their restaurant which is superb. My room with sea view is small but convenient, clean and comfortable Furniture is good but overall would need fixing. Reception has nothing like a traditional professional hotel, instead, it is somehow messy. I requested laundry service as you would in any hotel but it seemed like I ask something from another planet, which, after begging to have my suit and shirt simply pressed, came at very high price. At check out, I had to remember what I had on the 3 meals I had there. Breakfast is very basic, nothing amazing just food. The restaurant is simple but excellent food and service is good Some of the guys there are true professionals Overall I would not return to the hotel but a big yes to the restaurant without letting any reader think you are into fine dining but rather on a traditional “bouillabaisse “ and seafood discovery Now an advice to the owners who do not deliver up to expectations: Listen when a professional food and beverages consultant gives you a feedback don’t take it as an agression but rather as an opportunity for improvement. Anyway thank you …
Gorgeous view off the semi private terrace! Room was clean and modern. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. About a 30 minute walk to the old port, which we didn’t mind. There are other restaurants and shops closer as well. Definitely recommend Le Rhul for a romantic getaway!
Had room 34. Great view, small balcony but was fine. Nice view of the old Fort and 2 islands. Clean room and nice bathroom. Only downside was the light on the balcony came on every nite at dark which spoiled many sunsets. Management kept saying they would fix it, but it did not get fixed until the last night of a 5 night stay. Other than that, the place was wonderful. I did not eat at the restaurant as there are many within walking distance. Also, there was a bus stop that took you to the Old Port area right near by. Good experience except for the light. Most staff was very pleasant though not all spoke English.
We went to Le Rhul to have a try of this special dish as both my husband and me are very keen on eating sth delicious. Even though this restaurant is a bit far from the port ( around 15-20 mins drive). We reserved a table from TripAdvisor with this restaurant. Unfortunately, they cannot locate our reservations. Environment is good and service is ok! Talking about the Bouillabaisse, we haven't tried this before. A very rich soup, with lots of seafood ingredients. Smell and taste are both good but really beware of the bones. Nice sea view there and better request a window seats for your reservation.
This is a small hotel with rooms facing the ocean, all with a small semi-private terrace and good views of the sunset. The walls are thin and you can hear noise from the lobby and other rooms easily. In fact we heard a couple get in a fight, turns out the guy was abusing his wife. The hotel kicked them out and called the police... so that was fun. Not the hotels fault at all. Rooms are simple and very spartan, no TV, wifi barely accessible (I had to move my computer as close as possible to the door to access it). The hotel isn't near the center of the city but you can walk there in about 30 minutes. The hotel is overpriced for what it is. Breakfast is very simple French style either served on your terrace or in the lobby. The best thing about Le Rhul is the attached restaurant which has been family run for generations and is serving bouillabaisse... the restaurant is nothing special to look at but the service, food and skill of the staff is incredible. Unforgettable dining experience, definitely a top 10 of 2017 for me. …
Was so looking forward to the bouillabaisse, which this restaurant is noted for, it was very average, the fish had so many bones and the lobster was majorly over cooked and therefore chewy and tasteless.
The hotel has a view for the sea but not all the apartments have it. The rooms are modern and new, with a nice space and very confortable bed, in summary, very confortable. The only incovenience is that there is no ascensor. Anyway it´s something you can deal with. Very good hotel!
If you are staying more than 2 or 3 nights, it would be better off from the center. Here is good location with bus 83(or 583, night bus of 83) and has great view. You can walk to the center for 40-50m, but you will enjoy the view alongside the ocean. (By bus too) Most importantly it is cheap. However, you maybe need take some water and snacks with you if you are not willing to pay for breakfast. It is not about its quality, basically, but Marseille is a very expensive city. Enjoy!
