This hotel is in an excellent location, directly in the middle of action. Despite of this, the sound isolation was so good, that we hardly heard any noise from the old harbour below (we had a Deluxe accommodation with view of the harbour). The room was nicely and unusually decorated, the bed comfortable. There was a kettle for making tea, air conditioning and wifi functioned perfectly. The staff at reception and in the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. Why do I not give more stars? Well, for a Deluxe room, there was very little space to put our suitcases. There was no minibar/fridge to keep our water cool. The tub was too small to stretch out. No complimentary bottle of water, no “luxury touch” as we had expected for a romantic stay. Usually, I am not that fussy, but: I paid 340 Euros a night, and hoped for some special luxury. As it is, the hotel is nice, but not value for money.…
We stayed just one evening here and would have readily stayed longer if our visit was longer. The hotel is nicely located and beautifully located. The staff was super friendly. The restaurant, where we had breakfast, was likewise excellent. I highly recommend it.
Let me start out by thanking the front desk woman that was there during the day of May 29, 2022. I had made a huge mistake and booked our room for June instead of May lol. I had stupidly chosen a non-refundable reservation. She took the time to call hotels dot com and tell them about my situation, so they eventually agreed to reimburse me. THANK YOU! The hotel itself couldn't be better situated. Directly at the Vieux Port in front of the metro station if you want to leave the tourist trap that it is haha. There are a lot of more interesting places in Marseille for sure. Hotel is spotlessly clean, room on 4th floor was quiet (411), bed is comfortable, the furniture looks nice but it's not luxury and you can feel it- Maisons du Monde is a high street furniture brand in France. So that is why I took off 1 star because the price was over $300 a night to be in a high street furniture showroom :P No biggie though, just know what to expect even if you decide to shell out at that price. I had a nice experience and wanted to acknowledge the receptionist, but probably won't stay again at that price point.…
3.5 stars really. Rooms were spacious and clean. We had a nice view onto the harbour and busy street. Really like the fact the bathroom had a shower and a bath. There were 2 sinks as well and the toilet itself was in a separate room in the bathroom. You don't hear too much noise from the busy street so seems well isolated from that but you could hear people in the hotel slamming doors or in the hallway. The hallway also had a funny sewer smell every now and then. We tried the breakfast one morning and i would not recommend it. Very limited and overpriced. Better to eat outside. I came back from lunch one time and my room was being cleaned. And as I was working remotely, I waited in the hallway for it to finish. At some point the cleaner came out and saw me but did not say she was finished and went to clean another room. The rooms are a bit overpriced but i guess you pay for the location, which is great. …
The top location, pleasant staff and cleanliness were the good things about this hotel. But may I suggest that the designer was smoking something pretty strong when even a small "luxury room" (at 224 Euros per night) has no desk top for a laptop computer and no desk chair. However, there is a "bling" room dividing bookcase that serves no practical purpose. The staff suggested that we could work on the dining room tables downstairs when they weren't occupied. Hello?
Paying £200 a night, I expected a hotel. This is not a hotel: it offers overpriced rooms with almost no facilities. No proper reception or welcome; no bar/restaurant, except for breakfast, which is a bun fight with people trying to collect food from a tiny kitchen (take up your plate to save yourself!); room OK but very dark, but completing lacking light; no instructions about how to call reception; tissue box almost empty, half a loo roll; kettle and coffee machine, but cardboard cups – can you believe it; no free water except the first night; I could go on. Please do not stay here!
We had originally planned to stay one night but extended another and stayed in an upgraded larger room at a significant increase in price - about 70 % more in price. The room was much bigger and had a view of the Barbour but the windows looking out was rather small and at a height that did not make viewing out easy unless one was rather tall. Both rooms were lovely, even the standard one. No on site parking, but there is one nearby about 5 minutes walk away. Location was excellent - with good access to restaurants, coffee joints, shopping and many of the interesting sights. Service was also good
Mixed feelings about this hotel. Pros - Great location by the port, perfect for transport connections by boat, bus and metro - Staff were friendly and multilingual - Dogs were accepted - Room was huge, modern and clean with great air conditioning, a good bed, and all the trimmings you expect with a four star hotel. Cons For a design hôtel, this place is terribly designed. All my feedback comes down to this. - Reception is a single bistro table at the entrance, but the computer is in a side room next to it with the desk turned away from the door. Obviously the staff have to sit there to do their work and check you in, but the effect is you feel like you’re bothering them when you approach the desk (even though the staff were great). It feels messy and unwelcoming. Hotel reception shouldn’t be an afterthought. - There is one elevator shoved in the corner and boxed in by couches and the kitchen entry. There were constant struggles to get in and out of the lift with food deliveries and people carrying luggage. I ended up taking the stairs a lot, but even that door I beside the lift so was often blocked. - The room was modern and trendy but the furniture and accessories weren’t great quality. The bedside alarm clock was broken and the chargers on it didn’t work. - The shower tap was a nightmare. You had to adjust it to precisely the right place to turn it off otherwise it would activate the rain shower. Turning it off to prevent dripping was like cracking a safe. - The double glazing wasn’t great quality so you could hear the drumming and performances in the mirror pavilion late into the night. Should be acoustic glass. All in all, this was a bit of an uncomfortable stay for us and I can’t recommend it.…
Was very disappointed with our stay here. The initial “room” we received was an attic, and you had to basically break your back trying to get to the closet. When we asked to change rooms because of this issue, we were placed in front of the sewage pipes, and even with the door closed, the stench of sewage was always present (do NOT stay in Room 501). The room our kids had did not have good drainage in the shower, so water would spill onto the floor (Room 507).
