We arrived at the hotel at midnight, it looked dated as to be expected from a 2-star hotel. Before arriving, we had received an email to say that we would need to pick up the key from a locker as the check-in is not 24 hours. However, this was not the case. There was a man at the check-in desk, who took our name, checked our ID then proceeded to ask for the city tax. We had emailed to ask for 2 twin rooms - they had accepted the request via email, but as we checked in, it became apparent that the hotel was full and there were no twin rooms available, and we would definitely be able to get the twin rooms the next day in the morning. We paid the tax and he went to issue our key cards to gain access to the floor we were staying on and for the doors to our room. The machine was not working to issue us key cards. The only way we could get into our rooms was for the security to open the communal door to our floor, then guide us to our room and open the door to the room for us. We were in effect imprisoned in our rooms as we had no key to pass to and from. At this point it was 1 am and we just needed to sleep. The website stated it has air conditioning - hot air just blew out all night. When I asked reception (leaving the door wedged open as I had no room key) They said its working fine. It definitely was not. In the morning we asked reception to issue us the keycards so we could come and go as we pleased, but their system was still broken. We asked about moving to the twin rooms, they said we don't have any twin rooms you'll have to make do. We asked a technician to check the AC in the room, but they sent someone who didn't even enter the room - and also said it was working fine. I decided to complain to the front desk as this was not acceptable - a lot of back and forth between the front desk and our room (which someone had to stay inside to let me back in) nothing was getting resolved. When confronted about the AC - the duty manager said 'some guests have complained the AC is too cold so we have turned it down - this is the best we can do Its the end of July with temperatures of 34c in the day and 28c at night. It would make more sense for people who feel too cold to turn their own AC off. To make matters worse, whilst walking down the corridor the cleaner was servicing the rooms, there were 6 doors wide open as she dipped in and out of each one, leaving the doors open so other guests could see inside and easily help themselves to others personal belonging. The manager said we were welcome to leave (great customer service) with no mention of getting our money back. These are some of the examples of absolute insanity within the hotel. Thank god we booked through a travel agent as they swiftly removed us from the situation and relocated us. The travel agent called the Ibis to check if the AC was up to scratch to which they told the truth and said no, to make matters worse we were heckled by the manager for speaking to our travel agent. I wouldn't usually mind booking an Ibis for a city break, as their brand usually provides a basic service, but this is one of the worst places I have been to - avoid at all costs.

Dear Sonia, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly value all feedback and regret that you were not entirely satisfied with your recent experience. We would like to take this opportunity to confirm that unfortunately, your arrival coincided with a temporary malfunction in our key card system. Our team member, while apologetic for the issue, immediately found an alternate solution and escorted you to your rooms through his general pass. Early morning next day, our technician resolved the issue as a matter of priority and your key cards were handed over to you. We were then informed by you about the issue with the air conditioning system and we immediately sent our technician to address it, which he found to be working as per usual. Unfortunately, we were unable to grant you a refund upon your request as your concerns had been dealt with and apologised for any inconvenience. high occupancy, this is not always possible. We apologize for any inconvenience. We have noted your feedback regarding our housekeeping and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for an improved experience next time. Kind regards, Stéphane Mojica, Manager

Dear Philippe, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. Our hotel aims to provide an enjoyable experience and we are delighted that our location was so convenient for your needs. Our rooms are the standard size of an Ibis budget hotel and we do have limited parking which requires booking on the morning of arrival, or there is a public car park nearby. Please know that we have duly noted your comment concerning any future renovation work. Your complete satisfaction is our goal and we will certainly consider your feedback while continuing to improve our facilities. We hope to welcome you back. Kind regards, Stéphane Mojica, Manager

We stayed in this hotel two times: the first on the room 607 (the best one) and the second one on the room 212 . Rooms are very small, there isn't wardrobe. Clear, good shower. As we arrived before, we have paid 4 euros for let each luggage...we think that this service is very expensive. The hotel is in a very good position and very clear to the hotel there is a very good boulangerie - closed on sunday. Recomended for short stay.

Dear Patrizia, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We are glad that you found our location convenient and our facilities met your needs. We are sorry that you feel our left luggage service is more that you would have liked, our general feedback is that for the convenience of this service for a period of up to 8 hours, it is a very pleasing price, however, we have noted your comments in this regard. Our rooms are the standard Ibis Budget size and although they do not have a wardrobe they do have a convenient hanging area for guests to use for their clothes. We appreciate your comments as these help us to maintain and also improve our service.. We hope we may have the chance to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Stéphane Mojica, Manager

Excellent location, very short walk down to the harbour and some of the key sights to see in Marseille. No parking unless pre arranged and you have a tiny car! But the Q-park nearby was great and reasonably priced. Lots of shops nearby - Lidl was a 5min walk. You get what you pay for with the rooms, so they’re small and compact, but reasonable for the cost. Very clean. Good power from the shower too.

The room was quite small, but adequate, and was very clean. Breakfast consisted of cereals, pancakes, pan au chocolate, croissants etc., with jams, chocolate spread etc. Coffee, hot chocolate etc was provided by machines. Nice large breakfast area. The only problem was parking, they do offer on site parking underneath the hotel, but my car was deemed too big. Alternative parking is available nearby (Indigo) but at a higher price. The hotel is situated at 100 metres from the quayside of the Vieux Port, making sightseeing such as the Basilica of Notre Dame very accessible.

An excellent location even the area is not very beautiful, specially from the main entry. The staff try to make the best. Very good the clean and the sterile area due the pandemic. I have a problem with my toilet (lose water), the staff want to fix but i hope that because i stay only 2 nights don't have the time. Sure with a small better price i can choose again or tell about it to my friends. Generally i'm satisfied, no noise, very good wifi signal, nice and comfortable room.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The hotel is well located to visit Marseille. Inside it feels more like a hostel than a hotel, but the price was cheap so fair enough. Our room (triple) was basic but clean. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning was very poor and not adjustable. The room was very noisy. Very loud plumbing noises (like a waterfall) and we could hear everything in adjacent rooms and corridor. We did not have a good night sleep. There was a very strong sewage smell in the corridor, thankfully not in the room. We arrived early thinking we could leave our luggage until our room was ready but were told they wouldn't hold our luggage and instead we were given an address on the Vieux Port where we could leave our luggage for a fee (something like 3.50 euros for 3 hours). In my opinion this is extremely poor service. We regretted choosing this hotel and would not stay there again.

Dear Manuel, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We greatly appreciate your mention of our convenient location and the high standards we strive to uphold, however, we regret that your stay didn't meet all your expectations. We truly value all feedback and apologise from any inconvenience. Nevertheless, we are surprised by some of your comments. Firstly, all our rooms have airconditioning which is controlled individually in each room; do not hesitate to contact the reception if assistance is needed. Secondly, although luggage can't be left in the room we do have lockers available in the hotel with a cost of 2€ and no time limit. Lastly, our team are on hand 24 hours to deal with any issues you may have such as the odour you mention and would have looked to this immediately if informed. Nevertheless, we hope that we may have the chance to welcome you back for a more pleasant experience in the future. Kind regards, Stéphane Mojica, Manager

Ibis hotels are all over Europe. Most are nice some are not. This one is excellent! Very modern design and decor, very friendly staff. The breakfast that is included is like eating at fancy restaurant every morning for breakfast. The staff in the restaurant is so warm and go over the expectation of service. I had such great experience at this hotel I will definitely stay here in the future.
