We got to the hotel after a trek so our expectations were not that high, but we received good service with a smile (a much we could see under the masks), the rooms were nice, clean and good size. The best point of this hotel is the view, especially from the restaurant. Sitting right on the old harbor the view of the city was amazing.

The hotel is basic, no frills but everything they say will work, does. Sheets are clean, but I wasn’t able to get the ac to reduce beyond 25 Celsius at night. The facilities are kept clean, conscientious disinfecting and the staff remain masked up and efficient. The staff that went beyond their duties at the frontdesk are Melissa and Iris. They are genuinely helpful and saw to it that my health needs were looked into. Breakfast is simple- teas and coffees are good, free range eggs fresh from the farm and cheerful staff that remained patient and helpful. Margaux and Patrick at the breakfast tables definitely deserve promotions..they are so personal in their service. Dinner is simple but good- the calamari was well done, cod was fresh and the serving was twice what I could eat.. they had a very palatable Gevrey Chambertin from Faiveley well worth a sip. End the evening with the limoncello sorbet .. and flip your flops happily to your room- no fuss at all. It’s very busy in Marseille. Plan and book everything beforehand. Everything will be full…especially in summer…….

We stayed for 4 nights in August. We had a room with a double bed and a sofa bed for our daughter. Room was very quiet, no street noise. Not much space when sofa bed folded out, but adequate. There was a fridge and a kettle, a small amount of storage space, bathroom had a decent shower, no bath. Fairly basic room but clean and comfortable. The pool was very nice, the hotel was operating a booking system on it because of Covid, you could book a 2 hour slot. 2 hours in the Marseille summer sun was plenty! The hotel is a half hour drive from the airport, the taxi cost about 50 euros. The train station is a half hour walk away, there are quite a lot of steps by the station. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the bars and restaurants of the old port, there are one or two places close to the hotel to have a drink, and we found a nice restaurant out of the tourist area not too far away, Chez Marinette. The park next to the hotel is very nice, lovely views and good for a picnic. There is a big Carrefour 5 minutes walk away, also the beach is 5-10 minutes away. Marseille was very very busy during our stay and although we liked the city very much we would probably choose a quieter time of year to visit next time. Apparently June and September are the best times. We would stay here again if we came back to Marseille.

If you want to be treated badly and unwelcome please visit Novotel! Few things, -very strong sewage smell in the rooms! -not welcoming faces of the staff - also bad service during breakfast and lunch ( the breakfast was included but we only had lunch once there)! So to be honest we didn't like the hotel and I won't recomend it!
