This was about my 10th year at Hotel Val, and in that time I have watched the "flagship" of Mark Warner gradually become a faded, scruffy, unhealthy and shoddy chalet-hotel of very average standard but still at 4* prices.

People's expectations are different and it is not uncommon to have some form of upset stomach given the change in altitude, richer food and perhaps alcohol! My only other thought is our bathroom did feel like it had been refurbished - perhaps some rooms have been done up more recently. The public areas were fine, sometimes tables weren't cleaned as much as they could be but as we ate at the same table at least they were our crumbs
