We drove right past as the signage might be better, but came back to find an ample car park and a flower-bedecked hotel frontage that immediately charmed us. We spent a couple of nights here en route south, and wished we had longer. The glorious weather helped, of course, but the commodious accommodation was comfortable, including the cool shady verandah...

We only stayed here one night and opted to stay outside Freiburg and were delighted to find this hotel. The hotel is in a lovely quiet village a short distance outside Freiburg and very close to the Black Forest. After we checked in we walked a mile up the road from the hotel in delightful, beautiful countryside - working up...

We have just spent a week here, visiting our daughter who is studying at Freiburg university. It is in a lovely quiet village very close to the Black Forest. The rooms are quite spacious (we had an end one) and the showers are great, with plenty of hot water. We don't speak German, although our two sons speak it a...

My wife and I spent our Christmas Holiday at Hotel zum Kreuz. It was a nice large corner room with a balcony. Although the bed was a bit to hard for us and the pillows were thin and flat. We enjoyed our stay there. It was quite and the staff were very courteous and friendly. The Hotel Restaurant is renowned...

we booked three overnight stops on our 4 day discovery of der schwartzwald.en route to Tuscany. We like to stay out of the larger towns and in this respect the hotel was ideal-just a 15 min drive to Freiburg. Room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant ( in separate building opposite) was great. In fact we had the best`...

We stayed here for just one night, but could happily have stayed longer. We arrived (on a Saturday night) later than planned after a long drive from Italy; the staff made us most welcome and found us a place in what was obviously a very popular restaurant. No check-in formalities at all! Our room was of fair size with "together"...

Stayed for one night passing through in Aug 2013. Surprisingly very, very good, better than we thought. The room was large, had a balcony, very new bathroom which was well appointed. The all important wifi was fast and easy to connect to. Parking was plentiful but some of the spaces were a bit small if you have a larger car...

We stayed 2 nights before going to Austria. Room was ok, but a bit old-fashioned and the bathroom was very old fashioned and really needs to be refreshed... Expensive Concerning the restaurant, 40 minutes to get an ice-cream with only 3 balls (with no cream!!!), they did not care about us. Because we were foreigners ? (Same behaviour towards a...

My wife and I stayed at Hotel zum Kreuz for two nights in June 2012. We were given a warm and efficient welcome by the family owners. We had a large, airy room with a balcony and good storage. Everything was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Free wifi in the room and plenty of parking right outside. The breakfast...

The hotel is situated in Kappel, a small town on the edges of Freiburg. It seems a very peaceful little town in the valley of two hills in the Black Forest. Arriving by car from the autobahn, I drove through Freiburg knowing that the main road trough was exempt from the requirement to display an Umweltzone Plakette, only to find...
