My husband and I were here for only one night and wished our stay was longer! We were warmly greeted when we arrived. And the receptionist prepared a delicious plate of ham, cheeses, bread and fruits for us. Our room was really spacious with a comfortable seating area separate from the sleeping area. The bed was wonderful! As was the shower. It’s in a perfect location for exploring Passau and for walking to restaurants. Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

We had a lovely stay here in the Panorama Room that had a balcony overlooking the convergence of the rivers and with a view of the Veste Oberhaus. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the included breakfast was fresh and good. One note for breakfast time is that the staff will bring you regular coffee to your table if you request, but several people did not realize that and the line at the coffee machine was long. Lovely walking paths and trails just outside the front door and the parking was convenient (10 Euro cost) but would be a little challenging for large autos.

Really had a good stay here. Even if it was for just one night. Very friendly people. Good breakfast. Nice Eastern Cake with the check-out and above all we slept very good here. We had the family room which was great. We might even go back here!

Great location next to the River. In the Old Historical part of town. Large rooms, good breakfast but not a huge choice. Difficult Car Park which is normal in this location. Overall a great place to stay.

Good, clean updated hotel with lovely views across to the old castle/fort. Very good breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Friendly staff and very convenient parking under the hotel- a rare offering in the old towns of Europe. A bit of a walk to the Christmas market but through interesting old town.

My son and I spent the night here on a quick visit to Passau. The hotel is near the tip of the old town, within easy walking distance of any of the sights and the downtown city. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was extremely large and had decent amenities. The bed was quite comfortable, with traditional quilt. There is a nice breakfast buffet in the hotel with a pretty good selection and hot eggs on request. The price is extremely reasonable for all that you get! My only complaint was the Wi-Fi, which was weak throughout the hotel. All in all, however, a very nice stay in a very comfortable hotel.

This hotel is close to the end of the peninsula where the Inn and Danube merge. It is a relatively small hotel with a wide array of room options. I stayed here on a bicycling tour and the group's rooms were varied. While our room was smaller than some, our bathroom was very modern and spacious. Our room faced the street instead of the river so our view wasn't as nice as some but it was very quiet. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We had drinks on the veranda. I was surprised how in mid-September there were definitely less people and a sense that the 'season' was over around the city. The location of the hotel is great for walking up to the castle or into the historic area. The front desk crew was very kind and helpful and spoke some English. Breakfast was classic German fare with fresh breads and croissants to compliment the fruit, yogurt, cold cuts. They made eggs and bacon to order. We had a dinner here as well and the three options were all delicious. I would stay here again should I travel here on my own.

We booked this hotel because we were leaving on a river cruise the next day and we determined that it was close to where the river boats dock in the middle of Passau's old city. That turned out to be true. It is a lovely hotel within walking distance of nearly everything in the old city. Our room was cheerful and a good size and best yet, it had a great view of the river activity. However, so many river boats leave from Passau that only some of them dock in the old city. The rest dock about 2 kilometers down the road in Lindau (or Landau?). That's where ours was. The hotel had a list of the many boats hanging in the lobby so visitors could look up where their boat was going to be. They called us a cab and off we went. We wouldn't have stayed anywhere but the old city in any case, even if we knew the boat was going to be farther down the road, because there's not much of anything down in that docking area. The hotel staff was quite cheerful and helpful, calling to make restaurant reservations and alerting us to the fact that the noon organ concert at St. Stephen's Church sells out (so we hustled over there to get tickets, though you can also buy them online).

Altstadt Hotel as a fantastic location, next to the river and far enough away from all the cruise boats to allow some peace! Walking out for dinner was a real pleasure as was our morning stroll before departure!
