I worked in this hotel 32 years ago, and admittedly not much has changed - but we enjoyed our stay there. It was comfortable and met our needs. Don't expect a faceless hotel chain experience. The room key is still a key that you hand back at reception, not a keycard, the rooms have duvets and old-fashioned furniture in keeping with its traditional Bavarian theme. WiFi was quite acceptable, the shower was small but the room, bathroom, towels and sheets were clean. The shower has ample hot water. The hotel is directly adjacent to the townhall, close to the Danube and just around the corner from the cathedral. Would stay again.

The hotel is in the heart of Passau. Inside is a museum, 5 floors of European glass dating back 400 hundred years! Beautiful! The Glasmuseum opened in 1985 with a ribbon-cutting by Neil Armstrong. They have you go up an elevator to the top floor and work your way down.

This is a historic property by the river Danube, and so it aims to deliver a commensurate experience in the style of the "Old World" charms. I was initially skeptical about booking the Superior Double Room that came with a sun room / conservatory, but that turned out to be a much enjoyed feature of our time in Passau (we stayed 2 nights here). We didn't miss any "modern" amenities - the room was equipped on par with the usual wifi, mini-bar, hairdryer etc. Breakfast room was on the top floor, and on a clear day, offered views of the cathedral, the surrounding city and a bit of the old fortress on the hill across the river (i.e. Veste Oberhaus). This is also one of the few (if not only?) hotel clearly visible when you are at the old fortress looking back at the town. The glass museum holds an exquisite (and very large) collection of glass works, and we were delighted to discover that our booking (direct with the hotel) gave us complimentary tickets to the museum.

Very good location by the river. Very friendly check in staff, and so helpful. The rooms are very ornate with period decor. Although the rooms are somewhat small, I only stayed one night so it was no problem. The breakfast upstairs was the highlight of the stay. So nice and in a very beautiful dining room area. Staff was always available to replenish food and drinks. I would return and stay again, but possibly try to book a larger room if that were possible. Kudos to the helpful lady at the front desk, gave us some nice info on the property.

This historic hotel is close to the banks of the River Danube and has a good position in Passau. However the rooms are out of date and vary greatly in size and quality. There is no air conditioning in this ancient building. There are no meals served apart from breakfast which was average in quality. Good enough for one night if you are passing through on a tour of Bavaria.

Stayed overnight the day before joining a Viking River cruise. Excellent location to see the town by foot. Clean rooms, nice breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff. We booked the cheapest room, and it was very tiny. For us, this is not a negative as we only slept there. We would return.

This small Hotel is in an ideal location close to the center of the Old Town of Passau and also close to the river-banks of the Danube. In an old/historic building it offers nice, cozy rooms (with a view), friendly, charming service and a breakfast room with a gorgeous view! A perfect place to explore Passau (and the surroundings).

I enjoyed this unique hotel, with Passau's must-see glass museum inside of it. Great location, clean rooms and historical decoration. Short on toiletries in the room, no fridge and no international tv stations; so basic. But cheap. I was happy and would return.
