Lovely hotel in a terrific location. Good-sized room. Very good leisure facilities and laundry facilities. Good range of choice at breakfast and dinner, with no real limit on how much you can eat. All food very well prepared and staff friendly. Not a cheap stay, but good value.

What an excellent family run hotel: beautiful surroundings, wonderful foot and friendly staff. The high point of our return journey from Tuscany back home. Our dog loved swimming in the Forggensee and we enjoyed a boat trip before the next leg of our journey

From the outside and the surrounding area of the hotel is nice. However, don't let it fool you as the rooms have furniture and decoration from late 1990s. While this in itself isn't a problem, for the price of the hotel, you'd expect a more modern and newer amenities in the rooms. Additionally, there was only one person working the front desk when we are checking in. Also, I'm not sure if this is with all the rooms but our carpet had a smell and the windows are not very sound proof as we could overhear other guests chatting and smoking until 2am with our windows closed. The hotel breakfast buffet is nice, but there is only 1 coffee machine for all the guests. Needless to say, you will surely wait in a long queue for your coffee. The omelette is great but highly suggest you to avoid the bread. It is harder than a rock!!! Another positive is the all you can eat salad bar for dinner, highly recommend. The parking is also an issue as the hotel does not separate parking for the restaurant and hotel guests, creating unnecessary chaos. The parking garage is for small cars only and our rental SUV could not fit. It would be nice if they create a separate bike lane for the guests who use it so when cars entering and leaving the parking lot, it is safer for both the cars and the cyclists. One last thing, upon check out, it was pointed out hotel WiFi costs 8 Euro a night. One suggestion to the hotel: Don't list this! Or better yet waive the charge! It's 2022, not 2005!

Fabulous spa hotel. Beautiful spa with 2 pools and many hot saunas. Fabulous breakfast and dinner. Very close to hikes and wanderwegs. The staff speak great English and are very friendly. Rooms have been updated and are adorable with a cute Bavarian touch. You can rent bikes and walk around the lake. Beautiful views. Save.mineynans book thru the hotel instead of booking.com

Really like this hotel in term of the surroundings of Germany town, by the lake, view of Alps. Giving me a feeling of relax and wellness! Staff are very friendly. I am from Singapore, and stayed Sommer Hotel in Sept with cool temperature. My most enjoyable feel was swimming indoor and outdoor pools with view of snow on Alps top! I also love the Wellness spa. Great to walk around the hotel by the lake in the morning. Morning breakfast buffet is good with sun through the restaurant glass roof. Highly recommended to stay in Fussen. My stay purpose visit is Neuschwanstein Castle, and short drive to destination

Let me start with the good: service in the restaurant was ok, checkout was fast and friendly. However, when we arrived at the hotel the checkin was a disaster. The guy at the reception did not understand/speak German correctly (nor English) and could not find our reservation. Finally I pointed on his desk with the hotel paper of our reservation. I had several questions, unfortunately he could not respond to one of them. Without getting any support rgd luggage we were sent to our room: really dated and the bathroom incl. toilet was about 2 sqm. Definitely not what we expect if paying more than €300,- per night. Going to the highly praised SPA: again the spa reception speaking/understanding poor German only and could not respond other than find yourself. Indoor and outdoor pool are also dated and water was not really warm. Service at dinner was just ok, however, the steak of my wife dry and my duck not crispy. Will we return? Certainly not !!

People are so unfriendly in this hotel. Dinner says from 8-9:30 and they didn’t want to serve us food, they had to discuss between the stuff for them to give us a place in the restaurant. I went with my swiss family and before lunch we sat at the table in order to get something to drink and 3 waitresses passed around us for an hour and we didn’t get served. The handle of the door of the room is broken. We ordered a double bed and we got this bed one above the other and there’s no promised view to the castle. You really need to improve.

We stayed 4 nights on a half board basis. Location is good just by the lake and a 20 min walk to the city centre. You can rent bike on site - a very popular way to travel around Fussen, the nearby lakes and castles. Easy bike ride to the Neuschwanstein from the hotel - don’t bother with the car (parking is expensive). WiFi was not great from our room. With Covid restrictions we had to book slots for the pools (outdoor and indoor) - it worked very well and we mostly had the 2 really nice pools to ourselves. Room / bathroom were nice. Could have done with some water in the rooms. And slippers to go with the bath robes. Restaurant has several areas - some of it is a bit old fashion. Dinner was buffet to start with with a choice of salad, soup, cheese board followed by a main to choose from 5/6 dishes on a menu and dessert. Not everything was properly translated in English. And we were a bit disappointed with the lack of choice for dessert. Service was sometimes awful - a waiter literally demanding a tip 2 nights in a row or ice cream served in a clown plate to an adult. Overall food was good and breakfast very substantial with everything you could ask for. We got free tickets for the cable cars from reception - worth a good €60. The have laundry facilities which was helpful as we hadn’t planned to stay in Germany for so long. I would recommend.

Normally I don’t like to leave reviews like this but I just have to tell the truth. I have no idea how this establishment gets the reviews it does. Perhaps I am too used to good service after traveling to 81 countries and being in the top 2% of reviewers on Trip Advisor. I will be fair and also tell you what’s good about this hotel. Pros: Very good WiFi. Excellent location with views of castle. Charming architecture. Very nice rooms with new furniture. Very clean. Cute bar at lobby. Lots of activities at hotel and around. Good and easy parking (free). The restaurant has very good food. My server for dinner (a gentleman) was very good. The spa is wonderful as far as facilities go and you can REALLY relax here. You can meet lots of interesting people here from all over. However, I would NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN and this was the most disappointing hotel stay I’ve ever had after being in third world countries and so many bad places—that’s saying a lot. It comes down to the service and lack of consistency for paying guests. Before I arrived at the hotel I emailed Lisa at reception asking for a spa menu in English that had descriptions and pricing of the offered massages as the site didn’t have an English or French version and that I speak those. She wrote back telling me to click the button in the upper right corner which was no help at all as I explained to her in my next email because their mobile site has no option to change the language. She then emailed me back some screen shots of massages in English with no full descriptions and told me I could get 10% off if I booked a week ahead. I had given her my dates and asked her why she was offering that as I was getting there in less than a week. She never even answered that question. That was a red flag for the level of service. At check in I waited several minutes for help and the staff was just sitting in the office ignoring me. The bartender had to get them to help me! The guy who checked me in was very little help with questions I had and I also noticed the paperwork he had me fill out had city pass tickets of some sort for me. He never gave them to me I later realized. No one offered to help me with my bags, and finally I found some luggage carts on my own (without being told about them) and had to make two LONG trips back and forth to the room as the carts only hold one suitcase and I had two full size. Even a 2 star hotel helps with bags! After a 5 hour long drive all I wanted to do was enjoy a nice dinner in the restaurant and go to bed. I go to the restaurant at 9:05 pm and they are closed even through the sign clearly states they close at 9:30. The guy at the door tells me sorry and didn’t care at all when I told him I was a paying guest. The salad bar was already gone and cleaned up at 9:05 as I could see so I can only guess they had actually closed even earlier, but can’t be sure. Keep your word, Sommer. My dinner? Peanuts and gummy bears from the minibar. Yum. The next day at breakfast (which was very tasty and a lot of variety to be fair) I counted that the waitress walked by my 6 times offering the other two tables coffee (there were only three tables with people and it was not busy) and she never acknowledged my presence at all. Finally I asked her if I could also have coffee and she seemed like I was bothering her. There was no one at the omelette station the three times I tried, so I just had the powered eggs and had to reach around the station where they “hide” the bacon and get that myself. No one there to help three times. I got back around lunch and went to the spa to book a massage for later and SPEND MONEY HERE. However, there are no English menus for the spa. Reviews for this hotel show that many of us are English speakers...an English menu would make sense, yes? So, no massage booked and lost money for the hotel. After being out all day I got back and the manager (we will call him Manager 1) approached me and said he was sorry and offered me 15 minutes in a hydro massage bed. He gave me a token to use. Nice gesture, but hardly taking care of issues and I explained to him I actually didn’t want anything besides good service. I went to the spa (which to be fair again is WONDERFUL) and used the hydro bed. How nice of the hotel to let me use 15 minutes of electricity? Whatever. The saunas and relaxation room are amazing here though. Truly amazing. However, here we go again with false advertising and not keeping promises: the signs EVERYWHERE in the spa and all over the hotel says the pools (plural, not singular) close at 9:30 M-Saturday and 7:30 Sunday. So I go to the outdoor pool and the lady is closing it. I show her the sign and show that I’m frustrated and she just LAUGHS in my face. She said that pool is different and the indoor pool is open later. Ok, the sign doesn’t say that. I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal but I could not wait to be in a hot pool outside with snow around me...that’s something we don’t have in USA so it was going to be very special for me. Oh well. I was also never offered slippers at the spa like everyone else was untied I was leaving. And no tour of the spa—find your own way around. Terrible service again. Dinner was wonderful and the food was excellent. Again, my server was a gentleman and he was very good at his job and cared about his guests. During dinner, Manger 2 (anther man) came around and asked everyone about their stay. I was honest with him and he just said he was sorry. Ok, well how about you say you’re going to train your staff properly? Then I asked him what time the pool closes and he said 9:30 and I told him it was closed. He was surprised and then I told him about the lady laughing at me. Then he told me the outdoor pool sometimes they close at 7 if it’s cold. Ok, it’s winter and always cold. Second, Rhee is NO SIGN anywhere telling guests this and allowing a guest to plan accordingly to not miss this amenity. Bad service again. He asked me if I wanted anything and I told him no, just food service and I don’t want anything free and I didn’t ask for a single thing—I truly did just want good service and for them to keep their word. He then said everyone else was happy and I was the only guest who was not. Ok, well that’s rude to say and I told him I didn’t want to I argue. At this point I lost my appetite and my dinner wasn’t as pleasant as it should have been. Note to manager: don’t ambush a guest and don’t argue with them at their dinner. The signs say what they say. What if I’m supposed to pay $200 a night and I feel like paying $175? Is that ok? No. Writing is to be honored in business and this place does NOT do it. Again, I explained to him how much I wanted to experience a hot pool in the snow. It’s special for anyone not from Europe. He had no reply to that at all. He just stared at me. Nothing. This morning I was hoping to sleep in until 9am but no, the housekeeping lady keeps her cart RIGHT OUTSIDE my door and she starts vacuuming the hall at 8am. Most thinks have quiet hours for his sort of thing, but not here. And then I tried to sleep, but she was talking so loudly to her co-workers I had to just get up. Wonderful. So I make the two long trips back to the bar with my bags (again no help) and then walk by the restaurant for breakfast (which I PAID FOR as it’s included in my stay) at exactly 10:19 and the doors are closed. The sign says breakfast until 10:30 and they are closed early. Again! I just do not understand. I took a photo of the sign (and the time stamp shows 10:19am) and the closed doors (same time stamp) and the lobby clock which showed 10:20 at that point (time stamp of 10:20). Finally I went to check out and the lady NEVER asked me how my stay was as any good hotel check out staff would ask. She asked about minibar and I told her gummy bears and peanuts were my dinner the first night as the restaurant closed early. She didn’t say a word or care. Then she looks at her screen and asks another office person to get Manager 1 (there was a note on the screen and they don’t realize I can under and spoken German quite well) as there was a note to get him. He comes out and asks me how the 15 minutes massage chair was (you know that 15 mins of electricity I was so graciously given) and I told him it was great. In the meantime the lady asks for my ID to match my credit card for the room and gummy bears and peanuts (oh, yes I paid for those!) and I was so over it at this point that she would dare ask me as they obviously knew who I was and THEY HAVE A COPY OF MY PASSPORT that I just told her to give me my card. I lost my patience. I asked Manager 1 if he knew the restaurant closed early at 10:20. He seemed so lost and confused. He asked the lady and she denied it and I said she can deny it all she wants but I have the photos with time stamps. Another promise not kept and a breakfast paid for I didn’t get to have. Do not stay here. I will be making sure to inform all my travel agent friends as well. I am so sad to write this review as I was so excited to stay here. It makes me very sad. But hey, I got some peanuts and gummy bears. And I paid for them.
