Our final stop on our tour of this area in Germany, we did not book in advance and were it seems lucky as even in May the whole town was teaming. Booking is a must it seems once the holiday season gets going. This hotel was very much cheaper than many and yet we could not fault it. The rooms...

We were looking for an "authentic" bed and breakfast-style place inside the city walls of Rothenburg, with free parking. Our GPS had trouble getting us to the parking lot, even with the address the hotel gave us, but after we straightened that out, everything about the town was as imagined. We spent 3 nights here, and enjoyed every minute of...

This is not a luxury hotel. This is a charming, beautiful, warm and inviting home that dates back 600 years. If you are in Rothenburg, you are here for history and stories. If you are after 5 star comfort, the wonderful staff, great food and fantastic locals arent for you.

The location is perfect for seeing all the Rothenburg sites. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Good size rooms. Well laid out breakfast with all the standard German breakfast fair. Cooked to order eggs were a big plus.

It was a very "Hansel & Gretel" type hotel with a ski lodging type feel. The staff were extremely nice and friendly, even wearing the traditional German clothing--dirndls and all. Loved it! Even the restaurant fit the bill. It saved us a great deal of time looking for one after a very long travel day. The owners even helped us...

We stayed here three nights and we had a huge living room, a bedroom, and bath. (Room 1). The room per night including a judge breakfast was less than 100 euros. You are in the center of town with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and close to all the sights. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station. This was...

We stayed here one night in September during the unusual heat wave. We stayed on an upper floor, with our room overlooking the back courtyard-very peaceful. Lots of space in the room and the typical comfortable German beds. The bathroom was large with great water pressure in the shower. Shower gel was provided. The window in the room did open...

Really enjoyed my stay at the Goldener Greifen, as soon as we arrived the staff were very polite & helpful, showing us to our rooms, did like the upstairs hall, it adds real character to the inside of the building. It was a good size room with a nice new shower & toilet, but the room itself was a bit...

We stayed overnight at the Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen in Rothenburg ob der Tauber as part of a 2-week driving tour in Germany to see smaller, picturesque towns which still had well preserved town centers. Rothenburg old-town itself is beautiful and charming, coming across as a picture-perfect example of mid-1500-1700 Germany. It is interesting to read about the city’s history in...

Rothenburg is an awesome town and it's definitely worth staying a night in. During the day the town is packed with tourists, but at night it quiets down and is almost magical. Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen is an old mayor's house turned into a hotel. Has wi-fi and breakfast included. Staff were very nice and friendly and quick to help you...
