Lovely clean, well decorated and affordable hotel in good location. Staff were helpful. Short walk from U-bahn stations, shopping areas, zoo and also the gay scene bars. Rooms were well decorated and comfortable

This was my second visit. The first one was spoiled by being woken up a 4am by the fire alarm. Then being evacuated and having to walk down the fire escape stairs which were covered in human feces. I wouldn't have come again but a friend gifted me my booking. This time the staff went from miss informed to outright...

This hotel is found in an excellent location in one of the centres of Berlin, very close to the Berlin metro and a bus stop as well. Excellent shopping options nearby including the KADEWE and Karstadt department stores. What was disappointing is that the hotel sells itself with a sauna, spa, gym, all of which were closed for some time...

This is my 2nd visit and it seems to be slipping downhill fast! Tired rooms, toilet door doesn't shut, broken main light fitting, light above sink doesn't work. The staff in reception at check in were useless and rude. When I complained about the lights, there was no apology or explanation as to them being fixed. Sort it out guys!...

They have a good resource here but the staff is a joke. The reception staff either get all huffy and prissy if they don't like you or else are just plain space cadets. The place is woefully understaffed. I had to wait hours for assistance with a problem in my room. Breakfast is passable. I used to like this place...

Most of the rooms are good - depending on your stay [as a couple] will also dictate which size room suits your needs. On our recent visit - the Spa was undergoing an upgrade. Our room was looking "tired" needing redecoration.

I spend 5 days in Axel hotel, it was pioneering and beautiful. The personnel was polite, the room was very nice and the breakfast delicious. The location was superb, very close to the metro and the Ku damn area. Highly recommended!

I booked the Axel Hotel from an extension to the Easyjet Website through Bookings .com. i knew i would be staying in a gay/hetro friendly hotel but this did not put me off as all hotels have a mixture of straight and gay people staying in them anyway and Berlin is no different to anywhere else. The only things that...

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
