A hotel with lots of atmosphere and style. An excellent restaurant, providing a very enjoyable dinner and breakfasts with a very wide choice of food. The staff were very helpful and obliging. I would recommend the hotel to my friends.

Close to everything but seen it's best days. To pricey breakfast, pleasant personnel. The smoke from the smokeroom reached up to 3 floor not good. Over all a tiered hotel who needs a makeover very soon.

Recently stayed for two nights and was delighted, the room was clean and quiet, the staff were friendly , the location was perfect for visiting tourist sights as very close to transport links, The cigar room (bar) is a must to visit, it is small with 2 excellent bar men who were friendly and knowledgeable, my husband bought several cigars...

Nice hotel with amazingly friendly and helpful reception staff - the gentleman there (sorry we forgot to get his name!) was so helpful it completely changed our experience!. Rooms are old fashioned but very spacious. TVs are old and too small but we weren't there to spend much time in our room). None of the bedrooms have air conditioning and...

My stay was very pleasant: a cosy room, nice staff, and a very good breakfast. The situation is excellent especially for opera enthusiasts as both Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper are at a walking distance.

Every hotel has only one chance to make a first impression and I was really pleased with the way I was greeted by the personnel at the reception. Everyone I met during my 5 day stay was always smiling, very friendly and helpful. My room was a proper single room with a nice, comfortable single bed, with an unusual addition...

Rundown, dusty, and only single beds and single duvets even in the suites (despite having specifically booked a double). Astonishing. Like a German Fawlty Towers. Beautiful bar but the fug of cigar smoke was too thick to enter. Decent bathroom about the best I can say.

The hotel has seen better days but it is still very attractive and the staff is extremely courteous and helpful. My room was spotless and the bathtub was big enough for a battleship. I just spent the last 14 months living in tents and shipping containers working in the Middle-East so I soaked for 45 minutes before using the shower....

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Opened in 1929, the Savoy Hotel Berlin lies just a few minutes' walk from the busy Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s famous elegant promenade. Celebrities like Maria Callas, Romy Schneider, Greta Garbo, Helmut Newton and the famous German writer Thomas Mann were regular guests. They all valued the hotel’s atmosphere and unobtrusive service. Today the Savoy is still synonymous with style, discretion and hospitality. The classical premises were refurbished in 2005 and its original features restored to their former glory. ... more   less
