Stayed six days here in Spring so got to know the hotel quite well. Immediate impression was that the staff were very pleasant and helpful and I was right to think so. The room was clean with a large bathroom and was a bit of an odd shape but somehow that grew on me. I paid around 70 euros per...

Just returned from a 2 night stay here over the weekend. This review will echo the positives of other contributions. This is a budget hotel and relative to that broad classification offers good value and comfort: Rooms - good size, comfortable if blandly furnished Bathroom - larger than normal for budget category Staff - at all times friendly, responsive and...

Stayed here for 2 nights in April 2007. The Hotel itself was great - clean, nice room, great buffet breakfast included and friendly staff. However its location is a good 20 minutes away from anything that you want to see. I wouldn't stay here again because I would want to stay closer to the city and to the sites.

We have stayed in all sorts of hotels - and private houses - in Berlin, both West and East, over the past 35 years. We hit on the Holiday Inn in Prenzlauer Allee 5 years ago, and have stayed there every summer since. It's a modern hotel with a friendly, knowledgable, English-speaking staff and has wonderful transport links to the...

A nice property, but isolated from the city itself. The staff was nice, the rooms were okay but the a/c did not work. I notified the front desk 3 times and they promised it was being worked on. Needless to say, it never got fixed on a warm Berlin day and night. If you want a clean room, at a...

I stayed there for five nights in May 2007. The hotel is a new property and the rooms are pretty big, roomy, with modern nice decoration, light slightly scant. The location is not great, but it depends what you are in Berlin for. If you are interested in the Eastern part of the city and the Museuminsel, then it is...

I absolutely loved this hotel but I didn't like the location at all. From a European hotel perspective this place had massive rooms which were very well appointed. Quite a difference from the rest of Europe. It is however pretty far from everything. I'm not a huge fan of public transport (having done my fair share and not needing to...

What a great Hotel!! This was the first hotel my partner and i stayed after being on a 18-25's tour around Europe. After an array of poor hotels with the tour, this hotel was absolutely fantastic!! We stayed at about 10 4 star hotels after our tour and this hotel was the best due to its location and quality. It...

We have just returned from a three-night trip to Berlin. I agree with the previous reviews re the location, friendliness of the staff, the spotless hotel room and the great breakfasts. I would add, however, that the "Bistro" and the "bar" are in the lobby; the bistro in a small sectioned-off area and the bar doubles as the reception counter....

Arrived with friends and was greeted by friendly and professional reception staff. Throughout the stay they were at all times friendly and helpful with local and hotel information. Rooms were of a good standard with modern and clean decor. Beds comfortable and bathroom large and comfortable. Room TV good, great selection of German and European/US channels. Towels not changed daily...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
