This is a great place to stay during holidays. Location is great, a walking distance from KaDeWe, Tiergarten and Potsdamer Platz, the wonderful Christmas Markets. The U-Bahn is very close. There is a Kaiser supermarket and some cafes/restaurants nearby. The area seems to be gay themed and is very quiet and nice. The hotel itself is neat and comfortable. The...

Location is great. Literally a stone's throw from the U-Bahn. The room was beautiful, and nicely sized for a family of four. Bathroom was the smallest we've ever encountered in all our European travels. That made it tight. Our only real complaint is that we were told we could check in and drop bags/get settled at 12pm, however when we...

A hidden gem at a good location in Berlin. Outside the hotel there are several restaurants and shops. Entering the hotel was a nice surprise. Several small details that felt like home or visiting a friend. The room was big, a bed, a desk and a small extra table with chairs for afternoon tea. Ordinary breakfast but calm and relaxing...

We stayed at the family room at the 5th floor - in the attic. The room design and furniture was dated, but all clean and operational. The airconditioning was not very effective and very loud, so we did not sleep well one night we stayed there. The lower parts of the hotel very looking better, the breakfast was OK.

This hotel well located near shopping, restraints and local transport. Staff friendly. Breakfast especially good. Place showing some wear and tear. Room kept clean. Some problems with Internet. Biggest issue for older folks is that elevator does not go to ground exit floor, all stops 1/2 between floors on landing, problematic for luggage.

Cheap hotel, great location - if your visiting Berlin on a budget this is a must. ka De Wee on the corner, underground 5 min walk away which you can then access the whole of Berlin. Plenty of things to eat, see and do - really enjoyed our stayed in Berlin. It wasn't until the last night of our stay...

Great location, there are only about 3-5 minutes to KaDeWe, and the same to the Kurfürstendamm, where almost all the shops are. About 15 minutes walk to Hard Rock cafe... It is a nice, little, old hotel. Breakfast is good, not too much variation, but everything is fresh and I think everybody can find something they like. Nice interior... The...

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
