staff very friendly and helpful location though is about 10 minutes from the airport terminal and about 40 minutes from Berlin City Centre, so not a good place to stay if you are intending on visiting the city
I am staying at the hotel for 3 nights and last night was reasonably good, the restaurant service was fairly slick despite some initial issues with being understood. However this evening things took a turn for the worst. I’d sat for over 30 minutes waiting to have my order taken when the wait person came to a man who had just arrived at his table and took his order first. I was left flabbergasted and moreover he got his meal and ate it some 20 minutes before I mine was brought out. I did make my displeasure known and was offered a free drink to compensate me.
Perfectly good business hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable if not luxurious. Check-in and out were both quick and efficient, although the reception isn't large and so there could be a long queue at busy times. Breakfast was good - quite a lot of choice, and the bar/restaurant was pretty good for dinner. It did look really busy (too busy) at first glance, but there is a lot of room in the rear room. We nearly just walked away and tried somewhere else. Free Wifi was fast and reliable. Good location - yes I'd stay again if flying to Berlin Airport.
Hotel is clean and tidy and the food is good but pricey. Be warned the shuttle bus is not free and there is no signs for it at the airport. The bus only runs once an hour on the hour from 4am from the hotel and returns at quarter past the hour from the airport. It costs 9euros a person. We tried to get a taxi from the airport but no taxis would take us as the fair is to short. It is not possible to walk to hotel from terminal 1 and 2. The walk from terminal 5 is a good 20 minutes. All in all a airport hotel with no courtesy shuttle service is pretty useless
Hotel is what you need for an overnight stay. Comfy beds, good shower. Cooked breakfast and pastries and fruit bowl. Careful though as its 25euros taxi from Terminal1 and a shuttle bus is 9euros each as an option. Not exactly an airport hotel. You cant walk from T1. Maybe to T5. But you cant walk from T1 to T5.
I stayed for a night before an early morning flight. The hotel room was comfortable, clean and comparably big for just one person. I had a room on the 4th floor, far away from the elevator, which meant it was also quiet. Windows could be opened, but air-conditioning also worked well. There was a complementary bottle of water and a sweet, which added a nice touch. I had dinner in the restaurant, which was served as all you can eat buffet (€26). Food was good quality, presentation was appealing and there was a good selection available. I had taken a taxi from the airport (€25), taxi driver did not complain about the journey like other reviews mentioned. I took the shuttle back to the airport, which was easy to book and also easy to find in the morning. It is signposted and stops in front of the hotel. I had changed my pick-up time the night before via email and got a response very quickly, which was reassuring. Overall, a very good holiday Inn experience.…
This hotel stay was the worst of my 36 years of business travel. Avoid this hotel at all costs. First, the hotel shuttle service is ridiculously confusing to book. It is not operated by the hotel but by (presumably) a third party. Nevertheless, I thought that I had booked a pick up at the BER airport upon my arrival, but the hotel shuttle never showed up. I eventually took an Uber to arrive at the hotel. I did not complain that the hotel shuttle had not picked me up and that I had spent 25 Euros for an Uber to get to the hotel, but I did ask how I could book my return shuttle ride. The second smug and arrogant hotel staff person pointed at a sign that had a QR code for this purpose. I downloaded the QR code by I could not get it to register me for a return shuttle ride. When I looked to the staff in frustration, they simply shrugged their shoulders and looked away. Finally, I said I give up and I will just book an UBER to go back to the airport. Then, when I went to find my room which was on the “first floor” I walked up and down the hallways and past the registration desk trying to find my room. To me, the first floor means the floor that I was on. Finally, I got frustrated and went back to the arrogant registration staff and asked her if she could point me in the direction of my room. She merely said you need to take the elevator to the first floor (2nd floor in my mind). I don’t usually write reviews because they take too much time. But I am so pissed off with wasting my money at this hotel that I felt compelled to review it. I will avoid IHG properties in the future and will tell, everyone who will listen to me that travels to Berlin, to avoid this hotel without exception. Nevertheless, please do not use this hotel for any reason. There are may other much better options in the area, and much closer to BER Terminal 1 and 2. I am not a person who writes reviews, so if I have gone above an beyond for this one it only means that I am insensed by the poor quality of the hotel staff at the Berlin Holiday Inn and Convention Centre. Avoid this place if at all possible and stick to Marriott, Melia or Hilton properties. You will be glad that you did. This hotel chain is highly inferior and this particular hotel is a terrible representative of the IHG group. This is, with no exaggeration, the worst hotel for business travel that I have stayed in during my 37-year career. No kidding!…
We had dinner at the Holiday Inn Berlin Schönefeld Airport hotel and it was delicious. Excellent service, lovely food and we were offered a complimentary drink at the end. My wife and I shared a quiche for starters and a schnitzel for main course. Both very nice.
Reception: Average reception person who was not overly pleasent nor helpful, but not rude either. There is also a touch screen computer to enable booking of the airport shuttle from the hotel to the airport and pay once boarding the shuttle bus. Room / facilities: Room number 143 is on the 1st floor and is clean and initially new smelling, however this soon faded as the sewerage smell took over. We turned the air conditioning on cold, but the room didn’t cool, only the fan function seems to be operational (on the cool mode) to circulate air in an otherwise stuffy room. The queen bed is very comfortable and the pillows were flat and unsupportive and did little to provide a good night sleep. There is a large flat screen TV, desk and chair, bed side tables and lamps, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, and clothes hanging facilities. The bathroom contained a stand shower, which was a little tight. If you turned your body to quickly, your would hit the water tap, and turn off the shower. Parking: Parking is available under the hotel. It is unknown if any additional charge is applicable, however there is plenty of street parking for no cost. Wifi: Complementary, no validation required and extremely fast. I downloaded a full Netflix movie in a matter of seconds. Breakfast: Unsure if this is available. Conclusion: Great overnighter for a departure flight from Berlin Airport. There is a shuttle bus to and from the airport to the hotel. This is €9 for card and €15 for cash. This can be booked online after contacting the hotel or once in the hotel reception foyer by using the touch computer. Big down fall is that there are no instructions provided where to meet the shuttle bus at the airport, and we did not see any hotel markings on the shuttle to identify the correct bus. Letdowns: There is no external stores nearby, within walking distance, to enable one to purchase food. The below does not relate to the hotel. A taxi from the Berlin airport cost €24.50 our taxi driver made it very very clear he was less than happy to drive us, but he still did at speeds of 110km on the road just out of the airport. Upon arrival, he snatched the payment from my hand and did not even offer to provide change from the €25 given, he returned to his seat and took off in the cab. Not a great experience.…
Great hotel. Beautiful, near airport, great staff and food We were going to stay one night before flying back to the USA. Due to positive Covid tests, we ended up staying a week. They had FREE testing on site. Great restaurant and English speaking staff. Rooms were good size as was the bath area Since we stayed a week we were able to use bikes to drive down to Aldi to get snacks and water, etc there is a similar, smaller store called Norma only .3 mile away. A very easy walk to pick up supplies. Easy flat walking trails are nearby. Quick shuttle or taxi ride to the airport. Outside courtyards and rooftop areas were great Nd could be accessed by Covid positive people. Also the walking paths worked well for us.
