I liked the atmosphere in this hotel. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and even those in the front overlooking the street are very quiet. The whole area was convenient to all sights and felt very safe. The bed was comfortable; breakfast very tasty and best of all- staff were very professional and friendly. WiFi had a...

The hotel is just fine, it is in a relatively good location, the rooms are somewhat dated, but large and clean, the wifi is good. Breakfast met our expectations. The hotel is a bit too big to be considered quaint and charming, and too small to have the amenities of a large modern hotel. We would go back, but we...

Dear homelesscanadian, Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review. I was surprised to read that the hotel was “too big to be considered quaint and charming”. I have to admit that some rooms and parts of the hotel are a little bit dated but as you said as well always clean and most of them...

The hotel is near to the Friedrichstase station, so you have many options to get anywhere in Berlin. Also you can take a nice long walk to see Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate and Postdamer Platz. The Hotel has a very nice staff. Our room had the window to the inner yard, so it was very quiet. Near the hotel you will...

Dear forgia2016, Thank you for your kind review, You are absolutely right. The hotel is a perfect place to stay at in order to discover the exciting, vibrant capital but on the other hand to relax and find some quiet time. As far as the beds are concerned, it’s the first time I am hearing that some have wheels. I...

Had a wonderful 5 night stay at this hotel in August. Staff was wonderful and room was spacious and clean. They had a wonderful breakfast buffet also. Just a block from the Freidrichstrasse Bahnhoff which made getting around Berlin easy. I easily walked to some of the sites from the hotel. I would stay here again for sure.

I booked Hotel Albrechtshof through booking.com, which assured me that my credit card had guaranteed my booking. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I arrived at 10.45pm to find the hotel had rented my room out to someone else and there were no free rooms left in the hotel for my first night. Although they put me up in nearby...

Within walking distance of lots of historic monuments and the river Spree. Good value for money, and the breakfast is excellent! The inside courtyard is nice for breakfast in the summer. Excellent base for visiting.

The location of the hotel is perfect: old street in/close to the city center. the room was clean and OK. The warm weather made made the court yard very attractive for dinner and breakfast. But the noise the delivery vans made each morning right below my window made further sleep impossible. That was not nice.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the middle of Berlin, located almost directly at the river Spree, we welcome you to Hotel Albrechtshof - a house with over 100 years of history in the hospitality and attentive service are paramount. Opened in 1910 by the Berlin city mission, it is now the oldest continuously operated hotel in Berlin. The most famous guest, who visited it in the course of his very varied and diverse past, was the major US civil rights activist Martin Luther King, who spoke here in 1964 with representatives of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg. Holiday in the heart of Berlin Today, our 3-star hotel offers the comfort of a city hotel in a prime location, offering guests a pleasant stay possible in the capital with his personal and loving guidance. Our hotel is located less than two minutes walk from the river Spree and the historically and still interesting Schiffbauerdamm away. Whereas in the past here many shipbuilding companies resident now many small cafes and restaurants lined up facing the river together. Even the neo-baroque "Theater am Schiffbauerdamm" in which today is one of Berlin's most famous theaters, plays the Berliner Ensemble, located not far from the hotel. At the western end of the street performance artist Ben Wagin built the "Parliament of Trees", a memorial to the victims of the Berlin Wall. The Hotel Albrechtshof the ideal starting point for exploring the City is also beyond: landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the government district and the Museum Island is not far away, the Friedrichstrasse station is within walking distance. And due to the optimal connection to the public transport network can be found in a few minutes more attractions such as Potsdamer Platz and countless shopping locations in the city to control. Not just any hotel in Berlin ... In our house offers comfortable rooms with a fantastic view of the idyllic courtyard garden or the quiet side street and a rich buffet breakfast in the charming restaurant ALvis. You are welcome to book us as a business hotel. ... more   less
