Just 20m from the Märkisches Museum subway station. Take the U2-line that goes between Pankow and Ruhleben, if you come from Alexanderplatz it's only a few stops. Very nice neighborhood! This was the first time I took my mother with me on a short trip, so we chose a hotel that would satisfy both needs. The room is spacious and...

I stayed at the Derag Hotel Henriette in May of 2011 and never got around to voicing my satisfaction on here until now. While some details are a little blurry a year removed, I do know that I was extremely satisfied with the comfort and service I received at this hotel. The room, while it was very small (just like...

I have stayed here and several other hotels in Berlin. I simply cannot recommend this property for a variety of reasons. #1 - Amenities did not work and the handling of this was unprofessional It turned out my refrigerator did not work. As I had checked in quite late and purchased a few items for later consumption, I went to...

Nicely sized and well equipped rooms. Beds of excellent quality. Situated close to Alexanderplatz on Line 2 of the U-bahn. Station just outside the door. Very friendly staff. Excellent value.

we spent 7 days in this hotel, and had a wonderful time. It is really near the underground station (markisches museum), you just have to cross the road to get there, and if you wanna walk it's really near to alexanderplatz and other interesting spot in the city. We had two bottles of water and two bottles of beer every...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
