The location is great just minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and other places you might want to visit. The Friedrichstrasse station is just over the corner, along with some nice bars and restaurants. As for the rooms, basic furniture, clean and quiet.

The Allegra has much to offer. It is very well situated - just ten minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag and only a few minutes from Friedrichstrasse station, a transport hub. It is in a quiet area not far from the river - and the rooms are themselves quiet. The breakfast buffet is excellent - lots of...

The Allegra was in a great central location. We were one block from a major U-Bahn station, a short walk from the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, and a major shopping area, yet were on a quiet street near several good restaurants. The room was comfortable and very clean. A generous breakfast buffet was included in the room rate. Hotel staff wasvery...

We stayed for 6 nights, the hotel was very clean, located near freidrechstrasse station, but in a quiet street. It's spartan of course but you need no more in Berlin. The elevator was exceptionally slow, but either than that I would return to the hotel in a heartbeat. Great value for the price.

Very nice hotel, clean, located in a very quiet area (we've slept very wel), near the center, near an area with cosy restaurants on the shore of the river Spree. The staff was very friendly and prompt, never let you wait and willing to help clients. The breakfast was very good and rich and it is served in a very...

The biggest advantage of this hotel is that it is very centrally located. It provides a buffet breakfast with relatively good choice. A big disadvantage is that there was no wi-fi present in our room. There was only a cable internet present which was quite useless for us as we had only iPhone and iPad. The room had no air-conditioning...

Small room. Tiny bathroom. Wifi did not work. We wanted to book a visit to the dome of the Bundestag from reception as the wifi did not work, and they are not made us any attention. The only good location.

This location is very close to the train station and makes getting about the city and countryside very easy. Although the setup is unusual with the lobby shared with the sister hotel across the narrow quiet street it was just fine. The staff was extremely helpful with all questions. Quiet and the breakfast was great.

It'll win no design awards, quite basically furnished rooms with modular type bathrooms but clean and well maintained. Quite a decent breakfast, good quality food. Location is hard to beat - as central as you could hope for without a price to match. Quite a few decent restaurants in the locality. Might look for something a bit plusher for a...

If you are a traveler who spends very little time in a hotel and thinks of it simply as a place to crash at night, this is a place to consider. Otherwise it has very few comforts or amenities--Spartan is more like it. Walls are so thin that one hears the water running in the next room. Floor covering is...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
