The minus: the room and the bed were uncomfortable. The plus: the neighborhood is eclectic, artsy and the restaurants were good, close to a train station. They did offer a decent breakfast. While I would stay in this neighborhood again, I wouldn't necessarily stay in this hotel again.

Dear Gregg P, I would like to thank you for your honest review. It is unfortunate you felt the room and bed were uncomfortable. On the plus side, you enjoyed the hotel’s perfect location close to public transport and good restaurants and bars in the middle of Berlin. Please feel free to ask for a bigger and brighter room the...

Stayed with a group of 12 for a stag. Rooms were really comfortable and value for money. The beds were singles pushed together so this worked for us. Good central location in Mitte also. There are good views from the top floor rooms.

The location is a killer, near public transportation and fun restaurants. We stayed in rooms overlooking an internal patio, so the earplugs in the closet weren't in useThe hotel is a bit shabby and the beds were way to soft for my liking.

Dear hdk29, thanks a lot for writing this short but informative review. I am glad you liked the hotel’s perfect location and the nice and fun restaurants and bars nearby. As far as the quality of beds is concerned I have to say that opinions differ and thus there are some people who prefer softer beds and some others who...

The room was extremely warm, it was practically impossible to sleep during the night, there is no A/C and basically no isolation. Since the street is quite busy at night it was also not possible to open the window (we have to chose: the noise or to sweat). After complanining the second day we got a fan (why not giving...

Dear Jessica C, Thank you very much for writing this short but informative review. You must be a fast walker if it only took you half a minute to get to station Oranienburger Straße. But I agree, it is very near to our Hotel Augustinenhof and all the important sights can be reached by foot in case you don’t want...

I found this hotel by accident last year, appreciated my stay then, and returned for several days in June this year. The rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable. There's always someone at the front desk to answer questions or help with arrangements. The clerk called a taxi for me, and it was there in minutes. The rooms are...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
