Is an ok hostal, a bit pricey and the cleanliness of the bathrooms is not the best, specially since they are shared. Is not too far from the center of the city but around the hostel is isolated. Is however very loud and the rowdy crowd that stays in it can be easily heard through the walls.

I was with a friend for 3 nights, the room was very small but with a loo! There are also other bathroom in the hall shared with the other people. They organised happy hour and dinner and there is a bar inside the hostel. Moreover they offered breakfast ( buffet ) for 6€ or English breakfast for 3.90€. Isn't in...

Very modern and neat hostel with excellent facilities! I enjoyed my stay as everything was very good and the location was very close to bus, tram and underground stations. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of modern mixers in the bathroom sink (for washing hands).

Just got back from a great visit to Berlin. We generally prefer to stay in hostels or apartments to hotels and so know what to expect. It was very good value for money - one of the cheapest places in Berlin so I really cannot fault the value element. Our room was also spotless (we had a private room for...

Dear Guest, Many thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review on your stay. I very much appreciated your feedback. Whilst the surrounding area here is very much in development with different building currently being built and restructured, the location, as you say, is very convenient for getting around. The kebab definitely has some good food available...

It is the cheapest place to stay in Berlin during your solo or with friends travel. You can get a bed in the dorms or get a room separately. The place is a bit sketchy but the hostel is clean and safe. Transportation is easy with s-bahn then u-bahn

Good service, tasty breakfast and nice people! A fun common room, with game machines and tables. A 24h reception. The hostel was located near supermarkets and restaurants and just a few train stations away from the city centre!

We prefer to avoid hostels, but the Generator Hostel Berlin at Prenzlauer Berg was perfect (comparable to a 3* hotel in most European cities). Rooms were clean, good staff and good location (100m from metro station).

Would have liked to give 5 stars because the hostel is very clean and tidy. Breakfast was good. Price for a single room ok. But seriously you can't even hang up a jacket in this room, there isn't a single hook on the wall or door.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
