This hostel doesn't really fit the mold; it's decorated in a futuristic way obviously to the theme of a power station. I didn't mind it and it was always clean while I stayed there. I sprung for a private room knowing that I would want privacy after making it home from Berlin's amazing nightlife. The room actually had two beds...

I stayed here with three friends. We each got one free drink in the bar when we arrived. We had our own room. The room was clean but the bathroom was very small, especially the shower. There were two beds and bunk beds. One of the beds was broken. Staff seemed friendly enough. It was not far from the trams.

We checked into our tiny room with a sink and a tiny locker. There was no air conditioning, and being the top floor, it was hot. The bathrooms were like a school toilet block and the walls were paper thin. Not the best location, however was a good price. I will definately find somewhere closer next time.

Situated at the Landsberger Allee Generator Hostel is primarily a hostel for very young people. The rooms are spartan with inferior materials. The bunk beds in the dormitories are wobbly, the showers and toilets ok, but not outstanding. Unfortunately in the rooms there was only neon lights and no reading lamps, so that one is awakened at the different arrivals...

I think the staff thought they were doing me a favour by giving me an "upgrade" from and 8 bed to a 6 bed, that had no one else in it. but when your traveling by yourself, I'm more the happy to be in an 8 bed dorm with people in it, because it makes it a lot easier to...

This is one of the best hostels in Europe I have been to on vacation. The front desk was prompt and courteous with information about how to ride the metro system. The rooms were clean and bathrooms were very clean. We stayed in a ensuite private room, and there was a beautiful view of the city. The bar and restaurant...

The first thing that one has to say about this hostel is that it is really inexpensive. It's just 10 Euros to stay in a regular dorm which is really cheap considering that Berlin is such an attractive city. In addition, I have to highlight the friendliness of the staff. Everyone is really nice and happy to give directions and...

Nice hostel! It was a nice stay, but next time I would stay somewhere near the Pariser Platz. Pros: - Clean - Helpful staff - Near the S-Bahn station, that allows you to go anywhere Contras: - Far from the main spots in Berlin (what means that I had to spend at least 25 minutes with the S-Bahn everyday to...

This hotel is locate in the eastern part of berlin. Not fare away from the hotel is the underground station where you have a great accessibility to the city center. The famous alexanderplatz is only 5-10 minutes away. There are many interesting people in the hotel. They are coming from all over the world to visit this great city. The...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
