We stayed at the Angleterre Hotel while visiting friends in Kruezburg. This hotel is conveniently located to many of the tourist attractions in Berlin. Our suite had plenty of space and was well cleaned every day. The hotel staff were very polite and spoke great English. The breakfast was plentiful with many options. My only critique would be that it...

Everything you need for a city centre hotel. Literally yards from Kochstrasse Tube station and 100 metres from Checkpoint Charlie. Really easy to get to on public transport from the airport (128 bus from Tegal to Kurt-Schumacher Platz then U6 (underground) to Kochstrasse (Checkpoint Charlie). Costs about e2.60 for one way trip (ticket can be used on bus and underground)....

100 m from Charlie Check Point, 50m from metro station with own garage. Hotel itself comfortable, clean, breakfast I'd say what in a level of 4* hotel expectation - I appreciate long opening hours - 10.30am, even 11.00 am during the weekend. General feeling - standard, nothing extraordinary but if you are not looking for clean, centrally located hotel with...

The Angleterre was extremely convenient due to its central location for many major sites in Berlin such as the Jewish Museum, Topography of Terror, and Checkpoint Charlie. The staff very helpful and welcoming!

The hotel is well positioned and is a very convenient base for exploring the city. The rooms used by my family (travelling with 2 children) were spacious and well appointed. The reception staff were always very helpful. I would say there was no English TV stations (leastways none that we could find) which was perhaps odd bearing in mind the...

Excellent location. There was a subway next to hotel. It was easy to travel everywhere in town. Room was little oldish and bathroom dim. Very soft beds. Good breakfast and service at the hotel. Price was also good for this hotel.

I stayed here for a weekend in January. The receptionist staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, functional and warm. Breakfast was ok - no great shakes. But the coffee was great. On Saturday night, there was a very loud event downstairs which could even be heard into the early hours in my room on the 5th...

The hotel is situated near checkpoint Charlie. The rum that we had was quiet , clean and spacious. The personnel was very helpful when giving assistance and advices. Definitely gonna book it again for my next trip to Berlin.

Very clean and rooms were always of a good temperature. We used the hotel as a family of 3 as a point to explore Berlin. We never ate there as the €17per person breakfast charge was overpriced in comparison to local cafes/ restaurants. The mini bar was again overpriced (€3 for a bottle of water) and the size of the...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
