I visited Berlin with my brother from the 25th to the 28th November 2016. We planned on a lot of sight seeing, so only really wanted somewhere as a base. St Christophers Inn served its purpose in this regard, The beds were clean and comfy with secure storage for our cases. The bathrooms were spotless with a really good shower.... More

When I decided to go to Berlin, I saw St. Christopher's had a hostel there. After my positive experience in their Gare du Nord (Paris) hostel earlier this year, I decided to book with the company again. I'm glad I did! The hostel is located right next to U Bahn station Rosa-Luxemberg Platz, which itself is only one stop from... More

I've stayed in a couple of St Christopher's before and only on my 3rd visit have I realized there's tons of Americans staying here ... which is all good cause Americans are funny. But the place it's self is sound - a bunk, a pillow and a blanket and bobs your uncle. Full of friendly travelers and staff. I'll give... More

I stayed at this hostel for 5 days and 4 nights when I was in Berlin. I arrived in Berlin one day earlier than I had planned so I had to book a bed in a 16-bed mixed dorm on my first night, and stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm for the rest of my stay. The 16-bed dorm was... More

Good location right off the metro. The bar is nice, but it's way more public than most hostel bars. It's loud and more like a club-bar than anything. Which can be great, or can be annoying, depending on what you like. Rooms are great, everybody was really helpful (let me use their phone to call my credit card company when... More

We were in a 10 man room in the middle of July, it was far too hot! Bit of a trek to get to the toilets and showers. Very lively hostel, really great bar downstairs. Nothing really to complain about. It was in a good location, and, like most hostels through Europe they offered a free walking tour of the... More

Good bar in hostel - lots of people and things happening. Rooms okay - no mirror though! Not good with 6 females! Showers okay. Typical hostel facilities however no laundry which was annoying! Good location. Close to Alexander platz - shopping area. Staff spoke good English!

It's a perfect fit for a solo female traveller like me. The pub downstairs was great for meeting people and the wi-fi was very fast. The noise was not heard in the dormitories too. The rooms and the toilet were cleaned everyday and the staff were very friendly too. Another plus for me is that the hostel was near the... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
