We took a spontaneous weekend trip to Berlin and booked at this hotel. We had a previous great experience at an Ibis hotel in Grenoble so thought we'd give it another try.
Well, we did exactly the right thing!
Great online booking, easy check in....More
A decent stay here. The hotel had a nice bar, clean rooms, free wifi and good service from the staff.
The location is good. It's only a short walk from many of Berlin's attractions.
The only down point I would say is that breakfast is...More
Stayed there 3 nights; Cost is too elevated (single: 100 EU with no breakfast) for what you get: bed too hard, tv In miniature, no safe at the room, toilet smelled bad each time I flushed.... only positive is the very kind staff and the...More

This hotel is very well placed for access to Berlin's major attractions, on foot or by public transport. I booked a double room with extra rollaway bed - often this means more floor area and a sofa, but here the extra bed was built into...More

Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today
you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
