Do not book into this hotel unless you like quirky. The refurbished beautiful old theatre is now a hotel and conference centre with space to hold entertainment. It has a charming history of course based on the fact that amongst other famous artists, Duke Ellington performed here when it was a theatre. The very smart and clean rooms are a...

The reviews of the Ellington were overwhelmingly positive so it's nice to report that I concur. Everything from the friendly and efficient reception, to the great Duke's restaurant, to the amazing breakfast was excellent. Yes - our room was a little small, but the design was interesting. Only fault was that there was no shower cap in the room although...

Berlin is tricky, there's no clear centre, it's more like a collection of small cities of their own. So far Ellington has proved to be the most convenient place for me - an easy access everywhere in Berlin, plus KaDeWe is just around the corner. The staff is young and eager to please. They warned me that my street view...

Small room, the shower is part of the bedroom, one cahir in room that only tfitted in a corner, so you had to walk over it to reach one side of the bed. Good breakfast and good service at the front desk. Short way to shopping and christmasmarket. You can also walk to the MIdte of Berlin but it is...

Thanks a lot for your statement! Berlin is known for different city centers- we are in the city centre of the western part of Berlin, directly on the Kurfürstendamm. Of course to walk to MITTE its better to use the public traffic or taxi. Kind regards T. Brack & Team

This hotel passed all our expectations. We left home at 1am in the UK and thought we would have to leave our luggage at the hotel at 10am. To our surprise we were allocated a beautifully clean and comfortable room straight away. Our stay included breakfast which again catered for everyone's tastes. All the staff were incredibly helpful but what...

I had one of my best welcome, handing over my passeport, the boarding pass was still in it. Reception guy personalised the welcome, by discussing about where I came from, and that because of the long flight, he was allowing me a room in an area very quiet. Congrats, This plus the very nice Chrismas decoration in the reception (nicest...

The hotel is a good choice location wise, but there are many other hotels in the same area. The service is friendly. The rooms are ok but compared to the price below average and quite loud. you hear people either walking in the corridor or you hear the street. Further the restaurant has good food, but high-price. better go out....

It all depends which room you are in. Standard rooms are well below standard size and one can shower with one leg still on the bed. No Safe; No luggage rack so be prepared to park your suitcase on the bed, no writing desk to park even a small Ipad. Be prepared to spend more for a superior room which...

Well located in the commercial area in Berlin, this hotel has a long history. Although recently renovated, you can still enjoy a superb art-deco decoration and atmosphere. Room are small, but modern and comfortable. Breakfast is great and the infraestructure for business meetings is very good.

We went to this hotel with our 4 children. It is very elegant, very well located and very good value for money. The bedrooms are a good size and very contemporary. Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
