If you are just looking for the classic hostel experience and want to hang out in the lounge/meet new people, this is the place for you. If you want good customer service avoid baxpax at all costs. The staff was incredibly rude. They constantly chat with each other and seem irritated when you arrive at the desk to ask a...

I stayed in the hostel for 5 days. The location of the hostel along with it's environment and atmosphere were everything that I was looking for. The rooftop bar is cool, along with the back garden area and "playground". If you want to stay somewhere with a cool young environment with an opportunity to meet some friendly and interesting travellers...

Overall our stay at this hostel was lovely. There were just a few small things that could be improved. We arrived early before check-in time because early flights were cheaper. We knew we probably couldn't check-in, but wanted to store our bags as it said we could do that on the website. The woman working seemed very annoyed and was...

We stayed here in a group of five with an ensuite bathroom. We had a great time- the bar was really sociable and the room was nice and clean. However, the shower was a little temperamental and would suddenly become boiling hot and you'd have to dash out quickly. Also the curtains were like paper and we were often woken...

The hostel was in a great location as it was situated right next to a metro station which is ideal for people backpacking or interRailling. The rooms were very nice and clean however the larger dorms of 30 people weren't as nice and seemed very dingy. The hostel had a great vibe and had a lovely lounge/bar area where you...

I tend to write my review based on the hotel itself, where as I believe a lot of other people incorporate the city experience into there hotel/hostel stay. This hotel(we stayed in the hotel part) seemed pretty cool at the start we checked in and all was good. We needed to ask a few questions at reception later in the...

I went to Berlin in july 2014 with a group of mates and this hostel looked amazing but.... they over charged us on our deposit, they make you pay for every little thing such as a hand towel, soap, towels, breakfast etc and the breakfast isn't even good...staff were rude and nasty as well. The wifi is A JOKEEE you...

I've stayed in a lot of hostels and hotels and by far this has been the worst one I have ever stayed at. While it's relatively close to the S Bahn and the U Bahn, the hassle was not worth the stay. The staff was rude, argumentative, and blatantly did not care about those staying with them; any time the...

Baxpax is in a good location and the rooms are clean. The way in which they run this place however is terrible. We had a number of times where we waited at the front desk for over 40 minutes to get a simple refund for the deposit of locker keys (which we had to get after they required us to...

This was a fine one-night stay for our family of four with two older teens. Room was spacious and extremely clean. (But don't forget to bring your own soap!!) Location is excellent and close to city attractions, restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed watching a World Cup game in the lounge with the young people (great for people watching too! It...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
