Very nice old styled hotel beside the river. Nice and big rooms and bathrooms. Quiet. Clean. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast buffet with terracce overlooking the Alster. Clean. Near to the City, the Alster area and the main train station.

So yes, it’s a nice hotel and wonderfully situated in central Hamburg. Furnishings are good and it’s clean, as you would expect from a 5 star hotel but two things spoiled it for me.

if you want to take your bicycle by public transport to the airport, no problem. Taking bikes on this train is no issue either -unless you travel during rushhour on a business day, when bikes are not allowed. Rushhour is considered 6 to 9 am and 4 to 6 pm.
Bikes do not require a seperate payment.
The train station closest to the hotel is the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). I guess 5 minutes by bike, 10 minutes if you push the bike.
