If we start talking about decoration, it looks like an old hotel in a sovietic Republic in the 70's, the smell of the carpet is disturbios and the rooms are so simple but comfortable although there were some issues: 1- The Tv's remote control didn't work from the bed so I had to get up everytime I wanted to change the Tv channel. Besides this, there are not International channels, only German speaking ones. 2 - there were strange stains in the courtain, I prefer not knowing what they were. 3- In a hotel with this low quality there's a 0,75 cl water bottle in the room at a price of 4€!!!, ridiculous. There's no mini bar of course. 4 - courtains in the shower... in 2022? Wi-fi is free but so poor that it's impossible to connect in the room, even in the lobby the quality is so poor, this is really annoying when you are on a business trip There is a garaje, I paid 29,90€ for 2 nights, very convenient. Very well located to visit the city centre and close to the DB Station, also there's a U-Bahn station beside the hotel. Breakfast is ok, there's a good variety of products, ir starts at 6:30. Reception staff not specially kind. Blonde waitress in breakfast very kind and always smiling. I wouldn't repeat here if had any other option. This hotel in Spain hardly would get 2 stars. …
The hotel is just across the road from the pedestrianised town centre so really well located. Parking was free if you parked in the surface car park. The reception lobby was very ornate and hotel room was large. Only issue was a lack of aircon. As it was so hot the reception staff were happy to give large electric fans to anyone who asked for one to plug in their bedrooms.
Staff is very helpful, English speaking. Very well decorated facilities. relaxing lobby aquariums. Great location, 10 minute work to Central Station. Across the street from Western Helvig. I happened to stay on 4 nights in a room where overnight construction was being done.
We were there in april 2018, the room was OK, enough space, the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was from 7 to 9,with enough choices. Moody staff. They don't have many space for cars, but the location is good, near bus station and town center.
Stayed for 2 nights with the wife. The staff are the most moody miserable people we encountered in Dortmund! We never saw a grin let least a smile! The room we was in was freezing cold! There was no temperature control just a radiator controlled by the hotel we assume, we had a couple of single summer quilts in the dead of winter which wasn’t ideal. Trying to speak to the staff about anything honestly made me want to hang myself! Beautiful looking hotel and a great location for the centre and train station, would I stay again? Not for the price we paid I wouldn’t! Some happier staff and some common sense heat wise in the freezing cold winter and this hotel would be very very good. This is an honest review and is a constructive criticism along with major positive points....the poor reviews are the ones to learn from!!!…
I mean the relatively cheap champagne is quite ok but the heat is unbearable. You feel like chicken wings being fried in vgetable oil. I would recommend a portable ventilator. Please book in the winter or you will sweat your balls off!
I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times in the past year and will do again in the future. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Dortmund with the town centre on the doorstep and Westfalenstadion just a twenty minute walk up the road. The rooms are genuinely spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels left. The rooms do get warm but open the window slightly and problem solved. The communal areas are also kept spotless, the decor of the hotel is a bit funky and you will either love or hate it. The aquariums within the lobby look ok however if you are relaxing in the evening it is lovely to sit in that area of the ground floor. For the price of this hotel it really is brilliant however do not ever drink the bottled water as it is disgustingly over priced but most European hotels are guilty of this. The reception staff are always happy to help and speak perfect English, they will happily hold your bags for you if you check out and have a while to wait for a flight etc. Attached to the hotel is a Pfefferkorn which I demand you try the ‘Happy Day’ main course. Whilst not actually part of the hotel this does add to the experience. The hotel loses a star for having loud guests on each of my visits, they do not seem to be asked to keep the noise down regardless of how often you ask reception. With this in mind though it’s possible that I was just unlucky with the dates I stayed. If you are visiting the city I fully recommend you stay here, maybe you can buy me a beer and sit amongst the aquariums too. …
Very clean rooms and public spaces, but there is no air conditioning and to sleep with windows open means that it’s very noisy from traffic and ambulance sirens almost all night. The bathroom is tiny and the shower floor extremely slippery. You have been warned... proceed at your own risk.
Truly4 star venue. Very good hotel in the city centre, very close to Dortmund HBF, bars and shops. Spacious rooms, helpful staff, tasty breakfast. But extremely limited parking. If this is enough for you do not hesitate to book
Booked this hotel for a 2 night stay in December to visit the famous Christmas markets - we used Expedia to book, and it worked out super cheaply. We arrived before check-in (having had an insanely early flight!): we had 2 rooms booked and were told we could either wait a little longer and have 2 rooms next door to each other, or check in immediately and have rooms on different floors, which we didn't mind. The lift is tiny: refused to take 4 adults plus cases, but not a huge deal! The rooms were well sized, basic and clean: huge windows, good sized bathroom and great heating! (which you need in Germany in December) The main thing about this hotel is the amazing reception area and stairs! HUGE chandeliers and marble EVERYWHERE! The reception is a bit like a Faberge egg - the hotel doesn't look great on the outside, but the inside is crazy! I'm pretty sure all the furniture is repro, but even still it looks pretty amazing. The location is very good - I'd describe it as being at the end of the main road through Dortmund - a straight walk to all points of interest (although it did take about 15 minutes to walk to the other side of town). For shopping and visiting the markets, we couldn't have picked a better place. Any closer to the town centre and I think it wouldn't been pretty noisy.…
