Only go to this hotel if you don't mind being cheated with facilities that are not there and if you like being treated like a criminal. We booked this hotel through booking.com. In the afternoon we wanted to go swimming, but the pool turned out to be closed. When we called the reception it turned out that it had been closed for a month for technical reasons, but no further explanation was given, the receptionist en he disconnected the call. When we wanted to know more about this and arrived at the reception, within 5 seconds we were given 2 choices of the most indecent receptionist I have ever experienced. Either we leave the hotel ourselves, or the police will be called. We didn't want to leave the hotel at all. So the police were called immediately. The receptionist had the right to remove us from the hotel according to the police and the reason was irrelevant. So we were kicked out of the hotel under a police escort. A very embarrassing experience! If you have a choice, please book somewhere else, a grantee a better stay than this hotel.

Response from X X, Other at Hotel Nikko Dusseldorf

Ok, that is really unfair. You yelled at our staff, blamed them for something they could not change (closing of the pool due to a security issue) and then you started cursing and screaming. It is a pitty, that your did not let us explain the situation and we did really everything to calm the situation down . You weren't cooperative and you made everybody (guests and stuff) feeling uncomfortable (you just wearing swimming shorts und yelling around). We would call the police every time again, if our staff is engaged with such a threatening situation.

I honestly have no complaints with the room, good water pressure, modern look, slow but useable wifi and nicely located. The reason for the bad review is so it is noticed by management to fix the inconveniences so others do not have to deal with them. The first issue was the line for check in being so long even well after check in hours. There are four clerk stations, however, only two were utilized. If this is for COVID spacing reasons at the desk, it makes things worse because of the huge pile of people building up by the entrance. The second issue is the elevator system. There are no buttons on the inside of the elevator but rather a touch screen on the outside you select your floor from. It then designates which elevator to enter (A, B, or C) to wait for. A lot of the times it will tell you no lift available and this causes people to take the stairs. Once those taking the stairs reach their floor, they realize the door cannot be opened from the stair side and either have to bang on the door hoping someone opens it or walk back down. Maybe enough bad reviews will get them to fix the elevator issue that I know many are frustrated with and have four people working the front desk.

Nice and clean and quiet rooms. Nice bathrooms. Great view in the seventh floor! 10 minute walk from the centre. Near the japanese district with many restaurants and shops. Coffee machine in room. We'll come back for sure!

A generous 4 stars…a huge benefit of a doubt because itbwas better than expected after reading all the horror reviews. Lets start with the bad and what’s true with the bad reviews. Checkin is slow. But mainly due to Covid administration issues. Always 2 persons available to handle the rush. Quite busy around 12 due to checkouts and after 14:00 till evening due to checkins. In all I give it a past. The standard room was nice size and furnished. All clean and not looking dated at all. Great toiletries. What sucked was the airconditioning. Even though outside was a nice 21 degrees with max 24 degrees the room stayed at 21 degrees and even rose to a “sweltering “ 22 degrees. I couldn’t get it to drop at all. But aircon and hot wether are a bad combination with Düsseldorf. Older hotels have serious trouble to cope with the heat. Would be nightmarish if outside was around 30 degrees. Furthermore the shower a nightmare. Non existent water pressure and the rainshower was more like a drizzle and water temprature was not stable at all. First night it stayed cold , second morning stayed scalding hot and 2nd evening it moved for hot to tepid. Room 308 should be avoided or it’s haunted. On otherhand my bro stayed at 309 and he had perfect shower and aircon. Even had to adjust the aircon upwards. Furthermore if you wanted to use the pool u had to pay and extra 7,50 per person including kids above the room price. According to my bro is because there was extra costs to keep it clean . Tbh I find it acceptable because this was a good way to keep attendance under control and even with daily entrance the roomprice waar low enough to find this acceptable. The hotel was extremely difficult to reach when calling from outside. I am not sure why because reception always mostly availble when I call from the room. According to a friend the hotels are all understaffed. Weirdly me and wife just couldn’t get a great sleep. We kept waking up every few hours. Anyway avoid 308..room sucks or it’s haunted.lol. Now to the good. Price . We used hotels.con and paid just 69€ all inclusief per night. Was even cheaper. That price point awesome value especially if you had room 309. 308 is borderline acceptable, but my wife is suggesting my and all hotel that’s at 100€ a night. We like our comforts. Location location location…smack dab in little tokyo. Düsseldorf is a great city in itself, but the atmosphere in little tokyo is the best. So relaxing and Wiggins few minutes walk to best Asian food in Western Europe. From Korean, japanese to Taiwanese it’s all within easy reach. From desert spots to bakeries….every time we come here we discover great foodie spots. Amenities…on paper this hotel has it all. From aircon, to good japanese food(when open) to in-house carpark and the awesome rooftop swimmingpool. A true granddame to little tokyo. Please note 5 minutes away a parkingspot that cost 8€ a day. Awesome. The personnel Still I had a great stay and long weekend. Almost 2 years since my lst visit to Düsseldorf due to Covid.. the enjoyment surpassed the crappy parts. I will give it a final and last chance. But not sure if it’s really hot weather if this is my choice. In the end at this price point…give it a try. Amenities and location are unbeatable.just avoid room 308.
