We had two rooms for three nights. We enjoyed the location, comfort, value, and superb included breakfast. The single room was small, especially the bathroom, yet was extremely comfortable. The staff are very friendly too. Yes, the staircase is small and hard to maneuver suitcases in but this is typical for small inns within cities. We liked the bright decoration... More

This was my second visit to Hotel zur Alten Stadtmauer. I really loved it the last time I was there, and this I wasn't disappoited :) When I booked the hotel, I got an email from the hotel asking what time we would arrive so that they knew to expect us. We arrived arround 9pm and we were greeted by... More

The place charms for all the right reasons. Centrally located in an old building on a quiet street, close to the cathedral and the many sights of this medieval town. The price is beyond right - it's possibly the most affordable hotel I've stayed at in over a decade and it's fabulous. The breakfast room alone, never mind the fantastic... More

Very central but on a quiet sreet. You need to walk a lot in Lubeck so walking to anything from there is pure pleasure. Very nice room across the street from main building, restroom downstairs in the cellar which is even nicer, you get to see that the building is actually old but very well kept. Very clean. Good breakfast... More

This lovely hotel in Lübeck city centre is in easy reach even by car. A lovely building, bright rooms and bathrooms, charming little details of delight and breakfast is a truly pleasure overlooking the wonderful garden and the Krähenteich from the conservatory. The staff is extremely helpful and amiable, a car park is nearby. Great experience!

It has been many years since I was a college freshman in a dormitory and more years since I stayed in youth hostels as a high schooler. While I enjoyed those times, I have no desire to re-experience staying in similar places when traveling today. But I did go back to the past when we stayed here. This hotel is... More

Awesome and extensive breakfast is served! Very friendly staff. The room was small and the bathroom on the hall, but everything was very clean and fresh. The rooms with the bathroom on the hall come at a cheaper price, which I realised only when checking out and paying less than originally listed in the booking. A nice surprise... The hotel... More

I chose this hotel based on the price and location but was pleasantly surprised to find it lovely as well. I noticed one reviewer compared it to a youth hostel, with the children's books and toys throughout the front room. I'd compare it more to an English B&B. The owners were wonderfully helpful. Although there is no elevator, we had... More

This is a bright professionally-run small traditional German hotel with a variety of rooms to suit different budgets. I stayed at the very top in the cheaper attic with handy bathroom facilities (no lift but stairs don't bother me). The cheerful breakfast room has a lovely view over the river; uniformed waitresses attend your table. The buffet is to die... More

The location of the hotel was excellent - right in the middle of the old town and close to all amenities. The rooms were clean and quite well appointed, but I would have liked another pillow, and we weren't keen on the pervading orange colour. (However, that is just a personal opinion!) You would have to be reasonably fit to... More
