When we got to our room it was two single beds, a twin room, we had booked with the intention of having a king bed. On the website it says “king bed” or “two double beds”, this is badly explained as the double beds really just meant two singles. The reception and bar staff failed. To mention that there was a limited menu of sandwiches for dinner, when we had fully planned on having a nice meal In the hotel

Dear Mrs. Maix, We appreciate you reaching out on Tripadvisor to notify us of your concerns related to your recent stay at our Barceló Málaga hotel and we apologize if you experienced any inconsistency in our service, we have read your review with our utmost attention and will take note of your constructive remarks. Regarding your comments about the type of bed, we regret your disappointment for not being able to provide you with a proper double bed during your stay. However, these type of requests are always subject to availability, and we cannot confirm them as it depends on the occupancy of that certain type of bed during your stay. We were very saddened to read your disappointment with the dining experiences, at Barceló we know that meals are an important aspect of our guests' overall holiday expérience therefore we will make sure to take your comments into account to improve in this aspect of our services. However, I would like to clarify that in the menu that we have now available for the weekends at night, that menu is not just sandwiches as you hacve described, as we offer four types of sandwiches or breads, four types of salads, Iberian or cheese platters, creams, four types of pizza and pasta, two different meats and desserts. As a close-knit team, we are collectively committed to providing our guests with a superb experience. Our reputation and high return guest ratio attests that we usually get it right, so it is distressing not to have been able to in your case, for which we again apologise.  Best regards, The Management

Hotel's Favourite
Although we don't live far away, we decided to stay overnight at the hotel as we had an early morning appointment in Málaga. The location of the hotel could not be more convenient, adjacent to the railway, metro and bus stations. We arrived at 11.30 am intending to ask if we could leave our bags until checking in later, and were pleasantly surprised when the very helpful and pleasant receptionist, Amalia, checked us in immediately and we could go straight up to our room. The room was very modern, clean and spacious with a very comfortable 2 metre wide bed and an excellent rain shower in the bathroom. Soundproofing in the hotel seemed excellent as it was very quiet everywhere. The rooftop terrace and pool looked very nice but unfortunately the weather that day wasn't conducive to using it - it's good that the pool is available for use even with the covid restrictions though. We had a nightcap in the bar and prices were quite reasonable for a 4· hotel, €3.50 for a glass of wine and €5.50 for a large brandy. At breakfast the Covid hygiene measures were good. A good selection of food available although the normal service of eggs, pancakes, etc. cooked to order is suspended during the pandemic. I recommend booking , via the Barceló hotels' own website as a 10% discount is available if you join their loyalty programme and an additional discount if guests are over 55 so the price we paid was extremely reasonable.

Dear Guest, We always find it nice to read that our guests went home with great memories about their stay and we are very grateful for the time and effort you spent to share your personal experience at our Barceló Málaga hotel with us and Tripadvisor readers. Undoubtedly, one of our strengths is our privileged location next to the main train and bus station of Málaga and a short walk to the old town area; we are glad to know that you found it useful during your stay among us. On the other side, we are glad to know that you enjoyed the beauty of our pool area in our roof top B-Heaven terrace. We also would like to thank you for pointing out the good value for money of our hotel as we always strive to ensure the best pricing for our guests. Pros: Comfy beds. Rooftop is really nice and more spacious than I thought it would be. Shower is nice - shampoo, conditioner, and lotion was provided. Location was ok, but quite far from the beautiful center of town! Beach has a bike path all the way from the hotel - we rented scooters to get there faster. Cons: A VERY loud noise from either the bathroom or air condition every few hours that wakes you middle of the night because it is so loud. This was really disruptive to sleep, as you wake up shocked at 1am. The housekeepers are so violent so when they clean rooms beside you, they shove the beds so hard that the entire walls move. Slam the doors super hard so the wall shakes. (which leads me to: walls are very thin) You can hear everything from the hallway. Air conditioning is loud so can help drown out the sound of people outside. The photos of the hotel are quite misleading.. It’s dark in the lobby, etc. and wallpaper is coming off in the rooms, there’s mold in bathroom. Rooftop photos are accurate though! But generally needs an update. Overall I would choose a 3 star flat instead, in the historical center.

Goodness..That was the hottest room I've ever paid over 100 dollars for. It was my anniversary. Needless to say it was a don't touch me its too hot kinda night. Neither one of us slept at all. The sauna might be closed but our room was one! We called the front desk and they instructed us how to fix the ac.. yea no.. they keep the rooms set at 32 degrees....celcius... thats 86 degrees f. It wouldn't move. There's a tiny widow to open and if you open your door the hallway is 10 degrees cooler. The rooftop.. nope...looks awesome in the photos.. the white furnature is stained from wear n tear. There's no bar up there, the pool is awkwardly in this small little corner and the bar downstairs closes at 11 and is a lack luster common hotel bar. The rooms are quiet though. We had 625... it was hot, small and lackluster. The shower head is caked with calcium the soap we found out whilst already in the shower was empty, the soap shampoo and conditioner are not that great. Holiday Inn has better things :/ I won't be returning. Locations decent, staff is decent, parking on site is 19 euros which is meh..
