Tranquil and beautiful Great place - a hop and a skip from the Alhambra. Beautiful rooms with plenty of space and terraces with views of the snow on the mountains. The staff were incredibly patient and helpful and breakfast was really tasty.

This B&B is cool and beautiful. The staff are friendly and can speak good English, Breakfast is simple but all we wanted, Lorenzo is very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are simple but clean and views are great, no air con, not a problem for us in May, but maybe an issue later in the season. The feel of the place is lovely and relaxing. It is very close to the stunning Alambra, book online weeks before you go, and there are gorgeous free gardens nearby too. I have to add though, that to get into the rest of Granada you have a very steep climb down and back up. This is not a place for anyone with any type of mobility or fitness issues. Otherwise it is great and Granada is a lovely city.

This hotel is charming, in all the right ways. While not modern, it is spotless and lovingly cared for, as you will also be as a guest. The staff is wonderful, and very helpful to make your stay in Granada truly memorable. The proximity to the Alhambra was perfect, while the center of town is a brief, yet steep, walk away.

First of all, this location was great. Warning: Granada is hilly. It is a pretty steep walk down to town. The hotel is not easy for a cab to find. It is located between The Alhambra Palace Hotel and a restaurant called Carmen de San Miguel, on Alto Aire. If you can make the walk a short way down a rocky street and then up to the Alhambra Palace (about 5-7 minutes), you can get a cab there. But we usually walked down to town (around the Plaza Nueva) and if we were tired, we would catch a cab back up to the Alhambra Palace, which saved a lot of climbing. Having said that, even inside the hotel, there are stairs. We stayed in the Torre Room, which is two floors up from the entrance. It was a comfortable size, and had a spectacular terrace overlooking Granada (the town, not the Alhambra--that is uphill, behind you). As others have noted, you can hear the street noise far below from the terrace, but it is very pleasant. You are nowhere close to being on a street. Lorenzo and Alejandro were great hosts. We had good communication about how to get ourselves near to the hotel, but it was a bit tricky--we had to meet at the Restaurant uphill (a pretty rough road) at a certain time. We did not attempt to bring a car and I wouldn't; and we made it a point to be there on time to meet Lorenzo. If you're planning to arrive after dark, I don't think this is your place. Do be aware that this is a small hotel. Breakfast is simple, but more than adequate (yogurt, cereal, fruit, toast, coffee and tea, between 8-10am). There is a refrigerator downstairs shared by all which serves as the honor bar. Usually, no one was at the desk when we came in. You have a key to the gate and to the house, and you leave your room key in a bowl by the door when you leave. Again, it's like staying in someone's home. Everything was clean and in good working order when we were there. The location is very close to the Alhambra, very walkable to town if you are in good shape. We are in our mid-60's and were able to walk as far as Sacramonte and back--but it was not a short or easy walk. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a fantastic place to stay in Granada. It is 3/4 of the way up to the Alhambra and the views from the many vantage points from the property itself are wonderful with the Sierra Nevada to the left and a majestic sweep of the city and surrounding area everywhere else! We stayed for 3 nights in the Torre Room with a private terrace. Hearing the sounds of the city gently rising from below was wonderful - close enough to be part of it but sufficiently far away to be relaxing. Alejandro was incredibly helpful prior to arrival with directions and throughout our stay. Getting to the property is easy enough as long as you follow his instructions and it was nice to be able to hand the keys to Alejandro to look after the car when we got there! Breakfast is basic but fresh and convenient. There is a honesty bar where you can help yourself to all types of drinks and enjoy them wherever you want around the property. A great and very good value place to stay in a brilliant city.

Enjoying the magnificent views from a terrace room at the Carmen de la Alcubilla del Caracol comes at a cost – one measured in shoe leather and arching legs after another climb up from the city centre. However, once you’ve made it to the hotel, you’re almost level with the main reason for visiting Granada – the Alhambra. Indeed, the wooded valley adjoining the Alhambra is just around the corner and is a lovely spot for a brief evening stroll. As a carmene, the hotel is itself a classic piece of Granadino architecture, incorporating lovely terraces and lots of flowers. You can see something similar at a nearby museum called Fundacion Rodriguez-Acosta, but its nice to actually stay in such a building. The staff at the Carmen de la Alcubilla del Caracol are a very friendly and welcoming bunch. They tend not to be on-site after breakfast, but they always responded quickly to messages whilst I was there. Breakfast is a pleasant, low key affair with plenty of (very) local fruit, ham, cheese and the rest. Our terrace room was spacious and very homey. The grim weather did not allow for much use of the terrace but the time we did spend there was very agreeable. The lounge area, with its panoramic views, proved to be a good stand-in for the terrace. Although my heart occasionally sank at the prospect of another climb up to the hotel, I am really pleased we chose it as our base for exploring Granada.

A wonderful stay. Hosts Alejandro & Lorenzo are first rate. Hotel has terrific views over the city with easy access to Alambra. Situated on the hillside, the city is merely a 10 minute walk to the main bars & restaurants. Breakfast is a relaxed affair, and has everything you would require. Rooms are well appointed, and we found the hotel extremely quiet & chilled during our 3 night stay. For those of you who wish to visit this lovely city, this hotel is worthy of consideration. Muy bien!!! 🇪🇸👍❤

We had the tower room with balcony/patio the views were fantastic.the room was nice and very clean the maid cleaned while we ate breakfast. the breakfast was continental style and prepared by lorenzo who did a great job and helped us orient our selves to granada.Alejandro was also very personal and friendly and helped us arrange everything from picking us up at airport to suggesting where to eat. by the way we ate at the resturant right up the street. SAN MIGUEL which ws very good . the hotel is imaculatly kept and within walking distance to ALHAMBRA and the city center. Word of warning granada is a very hilly city and you better have your walking shoes with you Would definetly stay there again and will be recomending to our family and friends. THANKS AGAIN FOR A WONDERFUL STAY

The moment we arrived at the hotel, I immediately felt sad that weren’t staying for longer than 2 nights. Alejandro and Lorenzo were incredible hosts, and this is truly a special place. We stayed in a cozy room with an impeccable view of the city and Sierra Nevada, and enjoyed a delicious fresh breakfast each morning before setting out to explore the city. Alhambra is only minutes away further up the hill, and El Centro and Alabicin are a quick trek downhill (bus and taxi are both available as well). The many garden and patio areas are also perfect for an afternoon rest (even in the winter!), but the entire property is a perfect retreat. I can’t wait to return!
