Well, we flew to Bilbao and then took the bus to San Sebastian. Terminal only a few blocks from the Christina, other side of the river.. Walked when we got there, took a cheap taxi to the terminal in the rain on the way back. We also took the bus from that very bus terminal to Biarritz. Very easy, one and a half hour bus ride. Quite pleasant, inexpensive. Nice view of the countryside. The bus stop in Biarritz a little out of the way.

I am with everyone else. There is a wonderful restaurant in the hotel (in fact there is a cooking school in the hotel) but to enjoy San Sebastian you have to explore Old Town and enjoy the Basque version of tapas known as "pintxos".
There are lots of food tours in San Sebastian since, as Antonis36 points out, it is one of the gastronomic centers of Europe. I would suggest perhaps booking one of the food tours for lunch or dinner which will also serve to give you the history of the city as well as a lay of the land. We did our pintxo tour through the hotel website using the cooking school guides (see MIMO San Sebastian) but there are many others that will serve the purpose.
