Though the staff are conservative and traditionalist they were great. They were always happy to help with directions and anything you needed, even when they were not working. They were very friendly and welcoming to all guests. The hostel was clean and close to the beach.
We stayed two night in a private room and the people were very nice to us, and the quality of the hostel in general was quite well taking into account the cheap prize.
It was a really good choice.

No problems when I was there. Excellent Hostel! David and his crew keep things tidy, bed linens are washed daily, rooms and the premises are cleaned daily, kitchen and bathrooms were very clean. It was a pleasant experience and I plan on returning soon. It all comes down to the code of conduct of your fellow backpackers and the un-written rules of backpacking. Bad-Backpacker; doesn't clean up after themselves, feels staff should clean up after them, and at the end of the day doesn't understand communal living. Based on your question I see your not a seasoned backpacker. In my 25 years of backpacking and hosteling I have encountered bed bugs a few times, not a pleasant experience. Bed bugs are "transmitted" through your fellow backpacker; they are carried in clothing, sleeping sheats, bags etc. A good backpacker who understands social responsibility and has concern for their fellow travelers will, in an outbreak situation, examine all items they carry for the little bastards, shake-out, clean, wash all garments and anything they take with them to their next destination to the best of their abilities and resources to avoid further spread. I have had bed bugs at 4star hotels, therefore it has little to do with the accommodation but rather the degree social responsibility and understanding of communal living of your fellow travelers.
