This review is based on the check in experience, based on which I can’t give the hotel a higher review. The female front desk attendant was totally unnecessarily disdainful and basically rude for absolutely no reason. I’m sorry it’s such an inconvenience to you to treat us decently when checking in. I’m really sorry for existing. She really needs to find another job. I believe based on the reviews that the rest of the hotel may be fine, but based on how we were treated on arrival I can’t give it more than 2-stars.
I stayed here 3 nights during a holiday in Spain. Absolutely loved this place. It's very trendy and my room was modern, clean with a comfy bed and all amenities provided. The rooftop pool is nice to cool down and the views are amazing. The location is very good because you are a short walk away of the old city and the metro is 2 minutes away. Breakfast was good with a good choice of bread, juices, cereals, eggs, fruit, ... . I would go back for sure!
This hotel rates itself as a 3-star experience, but the level of service and comfort is 5-star all the way. We stayed in the 6th floor corner balcony suite and if it's within your budget and is available, I would highly recommend that room. Spending our evenings on the large balcony to watch the world pass by on the street below was a wonderful way to cap off each day. With the doors closed, the room was extremely quiet and the noise from the street was hardly noticed at all. Throughout the eight nights we stayed there, the only thing we missed was an in-room refrigerator. In the end though, it wasn't much of a problem since there are many small grocery stores in the area and we'd just purchase whatever cold beverage we wanted each evening as we made our way back to the room. Being so close to the Arc de Triumf placed us in the center of the tourist areas and everything was within easy walking distance from the hotel. We only took a taxi to a few of the places we wanted to see and spent the rest of the time walking through the charming streets and back alleyways of Barcelona to get to our destinations. There are wonderful tapas restaurants all over the area, and we found ourselves returning on one particular restaurant caled Elsa y Fred that's one block south of the hotel. There's also a restaurant in the hotel building called Fismuler that was a great (albeit expensive) experience for us. I can't give this hotel enough praise for how it operates, the frendliness of the front desk and cleaning crew, and the way everyone went the extra distance to make our stay as pleasant as possible. I've stayed at many 5-star hotels all around the world and to be honest, I thought the service here was at least as good, if not better than those luxury accommodations. Thank you Hotel REC for making our stay in Barcelona an unforgettable experience.…
My husband and I stayed here for a week in August. Their reception was very well managed. The roof top where breakfast is served had a great vibe and the staff were super friendly. Nice for a beer during sunset as well. Rooms were spacious, but we missed a sofa. There's a buzz through the night in the streets below with music and chatter. Centrally located...close to the market, beach front, Sagrada & several bars & restaurants. Elsa y Fred adjacent to the hotel was our best experience.
The hotel is located very close to restaurants and tourists areas. In particular, Fismuler, the restaurant adjacent to the hotel was very good, i would definitely recommend. Great value and cool area.
