We recently spent six nights in the balcony room at Casa Marcelo. We loved the location and cleanliness of this B&B. The hosts, Olivier and Marcelo are friendly and very helpful. We recommend Casa Marcelo to others traveling to Barcelona.

What a comfortable and welcoming home in Barcelona. Olivier and Marcelo go above and beyond to help their guests enjoy their visit. Our room was serenely and beautifully decorated with a soaring ceiling, sparking chandelier, pretty curtains, white furniture, a convenient closet, clean crisp linens and good lighting. Our small bathroom was ingeniously designed with good lighting, hooks for towels,...

Stayed 4 nights at the balcony room with en suite bathroom that opens up to the common dining hall. Pros: 1. The property is in the 2nd floor of an unmarked building in the lively El Born neighborhood near the beach, with plenty of tapas bars (including the popular Cal Pep) and small retail shops in every corner. There is...

We chose Casa Marcelo based on its high rating on Tripadvisor. So glad we did even if we couldn’t stay for the entire time that we were in Barcelona and had to move accommodations. We stayed in the smaller of the only 2 rooms with a private bathroom and it faced a side street and without a balcony so it...

My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights at Casa Marcelo and had a lovely long weekend. We found the B&B easily using the instructions from the website on arriving from the airport (google maps is also very useful because the streets are narrow in the area). It's located in the beautiful old city, just a short walk from Estacion...

Gracious hosts and staff, excellent location, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Marcelo and Olivier made terrific restaurant recommendations, booked reservations and catered to their guests' needs. We truly enjoyed our stay and recommend the property.

We stayed in Casa Marcelo for 4 nights and were very well looked after. The casa is clean and beautiful in a very central location. Marcelo and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Don't be put of by the shared bathroom. This was the first time I stayed somewhere with a shared bathroom and it worked really well. I would...

I was there with my son and we had a wonderful time in Barcelona and of course in Casa Marcelo. The B&B is a great place to explore the City. Close to everything - Barceloneta, Picasso Museum,... But not just the location is perfect, also the flat and host. The place is lovely furnished and clean and the host Marcelo...

Marcelo and Olivier are two very friendly and helpful individuals (evidence of this came when I had a little emergency). The B&B is very tastefully furnished, it is very clean and there is tremendous attention to detail. What the range on offer at breakfast time loses out on in terms of variety is certainly made up for in terms of...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
