Good points: * Breakfasts were included in our deal (booked on Opodo) and they were excellent: a choice of cereals, breads, muffins and pastries, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, bacon and eggs, all set out on a help yourself buffet. * All staff were really friendly and helpful. * There’s a computer with free internet access on the first floor....

We stayed at the Apsis Splendid for 5 nights at the start of September. The hotel has a great location very close to the Universitat metro stop. If arriving by bus from BCN the aerobus 1 stops at Placa Universitat and the hotel is a short walk away. Our first room was a double and was quite small but it...

We got a great price through the hotel's website. We stayed here before and after a cruise we took leaving from Barcelona's port. This had a great location. It was close enough to Las Ramblas to be convenient to walk, but far enough away from the action so that we weren't kept up all night by the action of the...

For our 5-night stay from August 6-11, we took the Aerobus from the BCN airport to Placa Universitat for 3.90 euros and were just a few steps from this hotel. The metro is also literally right around the corner, as is a wonderful bakery and even a Starbucks if you need. Placa Catalunya is between a 5-10 minute leisurely stroll,...

Our first visit to Barcelona, we were not sure about condition of the hotel or its location, but judging by the mainly positive reviews we thought we would give it a shot. We were very impressed with every aspect of this hotel. Rooms were comfortable, but not big, but who spends time in their room anyway. Staff were friendly and...

Just returned from a four day stay at the Aspis Spledid Hotel as a gift to my wife for her birthday. The location is "splendid" and you are totally safe . The hotel is small and functional and i would suggest that you take up the breakfast offer . There was no checking of how much breakfast you ate and...

Clean, comfortable good bed. We appreciated being offered either the quiet of a back room with no view or afront room with a view but noisy. The front desk staff were excellent, particularly Alex. Excellent linguistics skills. Free map of the city with highlighted tourist points. Recommend the Aerobus from the airport, only 3.90E per person, twenty minutes to Place Universitat....

Booked 4 nights at the splendid. read the reviews from this site, so thought we would give it a go. First impressions were pleasing. The receptionist were very quick at booking us in. Hotel has a lift. The rooms even though quite small, was clean & decor not too bad. Every day towels exchanged & room cleaned. When we booked...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
