Great stay here at Barcelona Universal Hotel. It was January 2016 and our first time in the city. It's off a main road and very close to some attractions and not to far from the water. Las Ramblas is a few metro stops away and we spent our nights and shopping in that area. Lots of bars and places to...

Myself and my wife have just returned from a 3 night stay here and have come away very impressed with not only the quality of the hotel but also the friendliness of the staff. We paid to upgrade to a Jacuzzi Suite which was worth every penny, offering stunning views over Barcelona as well as a seriously big and modern...

This hotel couldn't have done more to make our stay better. Augusta who work in the bar at the top of the hotel was fantastic, the breakfast served was very varied and the room shower was excellent. The Wolf Tavern did free tea and beer tasting during the day. Thank you

If you need to find the hotel get off the metro at Paral-lel. First impressions of the Barcelona Universal Hotel "wow this looks nice!". The hotel staff were lovely and friendly, even lent us a universal adapter as we forgot to take any. There was a deposit charge of €100 for any damages which I don't remember reading anywhere in...

The Universal Barcelona Hotel is quite nice. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and spacious, the location of the hotel is just seconds to the metro and a main bus stop. The buffet breakfast has a great selection, however the hot food options are not the best. The selection of pastries, breads and fruits make...

Just back from 2 night stay with friends we shared a triple room that was huge and good size bathroom too. Staff are just so friendly and helpful only wish we'd had longer to spend on the roof top terrace and tried the Restaurant. Location couldn't be better for walking Gothic part, Ramblas, Port etc we did hop on hop...

We stayed there for few nights, accessible easy with trams from airport and other area. Pretty close and on walking distance to beach and other main activities in central Barcelona. I will defiantly recommend this hotel to others. Nice, knowable, and english speakers front desk. Room was clean and bed was pretty comfy and pleasant.

The extra thoughtful items in our room for us and our baby were a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. We were only here one night but will be back for a full week very soon! The cleanest hotel with wonderful staff and great location for the highlights of Barcelona.

Hotel Universal is a lovely hotel with lovely staff. Went for a few days and had no problems! The food and wine in the hotel restaurant was delicious too! We had a terrace room which was really nice too.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
