We enjoyed our stay here, but found our room, which faced the busy thoroughfare on which it was located, noisy until almost midnight. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room not facing the street. The staff was helpful and even let me use their computer behind the desk to print tickets ( their free business center did not...

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. All the staff spoke English which was great and one staff member in particular, Carlos, was so helpful, kind and friendly. We had the misfortune of the airline mislaying our bags and he did all the talking over the phone to them as we couldn't speak much Spanish and was very sympathetic...

We stayed in a triple room, which was spacious and comfortable. All members of staff were friendly and helpful. We ate once in the restaurant, which was good and there were several other places to eat within a short walk. There is a metro stop just outside the front door and many tourist attractions are within easy walking distance. As...

Great hotel, clean, free internet, attentive daily maids, good location close to metro, cafes (one just accross the road left at main entrance does great tapas at reasonable prices), small supermarkets good if you're keeping to a tight budget (I think they're called carfours) & walking distance (15mins) to main strip (La Ramblas). Very helpful front desk (5 stars to...

We stayed in the Barcelona Universal Hotel for 3 days following our cruise. We had a great experience here. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and spoke fluent English. They told you what metros or buses to take to various places and answered any other questions that we had. Room was very nice and modern; yes a little dark but...

A very interesting entrance into the carpark. . . thank you Paco. We had a westerly facing window. . . thank you to housekeeping for allowing the aircon to remain on. Fantastic location, right by a metro station. What a wonderful start to our Iberian adventure. We will certainly stay here again if we are lucky enough to visit Barcelona...

My husband and I and our daughter and her boyfriend stayed in Barcelona for two days, waiting for our flight back home after our Italian cruise. We stayed here for 3 nights, having never been to Barcelona before we found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful, assuring us with parking and places to visit and tips on the area. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and a generous size. Short (a little scary) walk to the Main Street.the only negative we had was the walls...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
