We took the Metro right from outside the hotel down to Plaza Catalunya. From there, for more of a fun "tour" of the city, we did one of the Red Bus Tours one day that allowed us to get on and off the bus at certain stops including Camp Nou Stadium. However, if you did want a more direct route, the Metro and bus systems are very efficient in the city as far as taking transfers around. I would recommend buying a multiple pass for yourself as it is cheaper in the long run.
