Loved this hostel, very clean, plenty of space and decent value for money. Liked it enough, I almost wanted to buy the souvenirs at the reception desk. We didn't have our own bathroom, but that worked to our advantage. The shared bathrooms were always clean enough with plenty hot water. Are room was cleaned every day, with clean sheets and...

I stayed at Hostal Gat Raval for 3 nights, on November. The hostel has a very good location -just one street away from the Modern Art Museum square. You should know; this is not a luxurious, many starred hotel but minimally designed, spacious rooms have comfortable beds, air conditioning and clean bathrooms. My room was cleaned every day; sheets and...

Have just had a four day break and the hostal is within minutes of the the Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla. Could not be more central. The room was basic but had air con that worked well, TV plus a lovely balcony overlooking the street. The daily hubbub disappeared when you closed the doors so you had the best of...

I've been traveling on a budget every summer from the last 5 or 6 years and this was by far the WORST place I have ever stayed. We asked (and paid) for a superior room with double bed... we got 2 single beds. We had a bathroom (thank God!) but it was VERY smelly and didn't seem quite clean. The...

The room are very clean although small, shared bathroom not as clean, and building is old. The area is dodgy but very well located if you want to walk in the centre of Barcelona. In summary, it's a good hotel if you are just looking for a bed to crash and profit from the city centre.

Stayed here a while back on my own and loved the place. Modern, great Internet access and positioned just behind the MACBA. Street feels safe and it is ultra quiet being a few hundred metres off the main drag

We had a really great stay here, and the hostal had pretty much what we needed for a good price. I can definitely see some people finding things objectionable, but I would definitely stay here again. First impressions are poor; no lobby, just a small sign and an intercom, it's up on the second floor of a beat up looking...

Stylish - everything with bright green colors. I loved it. Good comfortable bed, nice room decoration, high ceilings - lots of air. Location is not bad, reception works all night and guys are nice. Price is not bad as well. We had private room for two, bathroom was fine as well, but there is also rooms with bathroom and toilet...

I stay in this hostal for a couple of days during the last week end with my girlfriend. Barcelona is so beautiful, the city life is amazing during all the day with many thinks to do and the wheater is perfect. The hostel is in the heart of the city, 10 minutes walking from La Rambla, the main street. The...

It's cheap, has air-con & the location is fantastic, but I can't recommend it. My room was taller than it was wide, had a funny smell, paper thin pillow and it was terribly noisy even with earplugs ... the shared bathroom facilities were pretty grim and WiFi is only available in reception despite what the website suggests. It's a shame...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
