Strange things happened around this Hostal. Only for a couple of days in Barcelona and credit card had been copied. I am not accusing this hostal but the neighborhood is surrounded by shady stores. Regarding the hostal, you get what you pay for. Rooms are ok but very small, including the bathroom. Reception ladies seemed nice. But I would recommend another neighborhood. Enjoy Barcelona

The rooms are basic but fine. I stayed in a double room with 3 beds. I slept on the single bed because the double was terrible to sleep in. It has TV and bathroom in room. The shower needs updating water was too hot or leuk warm, toilet seat moved, needs a bit fixing. In general is fine. Rokm quiet and clean only needs some make over. The area is good, restaurant bars....aerport bus 5 minutes walk...metro 2 minutes walk. Good place in general. Thanks

They have a very clean rooms, nice staff, looks family project , two connected apartments, 24 hours reception. was my first time to try hostel and they really gave me a good impression about it except the heavy air fresh smell i liked the room... the hostel is near by the metro and supermarkets , not far from down town 2 metro stations. i would recommend to look in other down town options but this one for sure is a very good value of money.

The hostel is very clean and neat. It is located very close to metro Poble Sec. The showers are clean and tidy. The hostel staff almost does not speak English, but they do try to help, using Google Translate. The only disappointing thing is that the walls are very thin: one can hear every word of neighbours and the sound of their AC all night long. Also, I had to pay a tourist tax, whereas, while making a reservation at hostelworld.com, I was told that all taxes and fees are included. Since the receptionist does not speak English, I culd not prove anything.

Upon arrival the man in the reception tried to make us pay for the first night even tho everything was paid for beforehand, he could even see our booking in his paperwork. And when we were about to leave he wanted us to pay "tourist tax". The rooms where ok but the AC wasn't working properly. The bathrooms were also not bad, but everything was very worn out. Wouldn't recommend anyone staying here.

Very nice people. Good suit: quite, clean, large enough, air conditioner, TV. Free tea, microwave and plastic dishes. Also there are place for leave your baggage. To sum up: very good place for this money.

The Hostel is located in the poble sec area which is beautiful, is super close to the metro station and it service is really great, the people on the counter are really friendly and will help you. There are also some bars and restaurants near the hostel.

After a long day in Barcelona, Hostal Elkano is a great place to have a rest and gain energy for the following day. Quiet, cosy rooms, reasonable prices and kind staff. I'd recommend it to everyone. If I go to Barcelona again no doubt I'll choose this hostel.

I was thinking which rate to choose, this hostal is a little bit better than 'good' but less than 'very good'. For sure - it is a very clean place, rooms are very small without a/c, wifi is free and works very well. We had a double room with a bathroom in the room and with the balcony. Maybe other rooms have a/c but it wasnt necessary in March. It is situated in great location, next to the supermarket and metro but it has one gigant minus - walls are like made of paper. You can hear every little noise the neighbours make (I mean every, even snoring, alarm clock, talking, toilet). Not only the neighbours staying in hostal, from upstairs too. If you are not a good sleeper - that might be a disturbing problem at night, especially when the streets are waking up at 6 am and you have just came back from party :) The stuff barely speaks english but they are all very nice and polite, especially the cleaning lady. There is also a little problem with dishes availability - plates, cups and so on - better take your own.…

I believe this Hostel fits all the needs I have when I travel: very Central, near all facilities, cheap, very nice staff, helpfull and smiley, confortable rooms and clean. I will probably come back again.
