The hotel is beautiful, awesome roof top bar with amazing views of the city. Eyder and Cesar at the lobby bar were great hosts and couldn’t have made our stay any more welcoming. Unbelievable experience in the best possible way! From the moment we entered, we felt an aura of incredible history and rich culture: from the furniture to the small to the colors, it was beautiful. The rooms were beautiful with views and wonderfully furnished, so none of my family has any complaints about them. Everything in the hotel felt very high end and luxurious. With posh amenities like the mini bar with drinks and food throughout the rooms and hotel, to the numerous lounges and pools both indoor and outdoor that incorporate the nature, history, and qualities of Barcelona at its finest, the hotel truly felt like a resort. The Tea Time was just as superb as the people who served it. The staff was not also very amiable and accommodating, but each went above and beyond to ensure the quality of our stay. The breakfast should also be mentioned. If you are to believe that this is simply a continental breakfast, you would be mistaken, as it is a full on feast with incredible quantities of delicious food and lush furnishings around the room. The service here never quavered either: Vanessa, Tiontse, Ana, and Ewas were all incredible and so friendly. The location could not have been more central either! In the middle of La Rambla, a famous avenue in Barcelona, everything is within walking distance, including tours, shopping, culture, and history. Our stay at this wonderful hotel ended far too quickly, and before we knew it, we were gone from one of Barcelona’s finest offerings. My husband and I, along with my 1 year old have just spent 3 nights at Hotel 1898. We picked here for our trip based on recommendations we had received and were really looking forward to our stay. We were allocated room 425 on arrival. As you can imagine with a small child (or anyone looking to relax) we were shocked by the level of noise you could hear from the street - music blaring and people shouting so much so it was impossible to sleep. My husband asked at reception if it was possible for us to be moved the next night to which he received a ‘there are no other similar rooms available’ response. I emailed the manager but never received a response. The following day after we had been out visiting sites we returned to someone cleaning our room at 330pm (I never have had my room cleaned this late in any hotel I have ever stayed in and this happened on the next day also where I had to ring to ask for the room to be cleaned). After going to reception again I was told they had been trying to contact me by ringing the room not my mobile number?? We were allocated another room on the third floor which had much better soundproofing. My main issue was the rudeness of the staff member at reception. Instead of showing any sort of empathy we were treated with such disregard. No one ever followed up to see if our new room was ok or showed any interest in checking to see if we were ok. I had to ask for a cot multiple times before it arrived in our room at 6pm. On a positive the spa/pool area is great. Unfortunately however, I don’t think I could recommend staying here. …

We stayed at Hotel 1898 for a week. We chose this hotel because it’s in a great location. I had a lovely Birthday surprise. The room was decorated with balloons and there was a bottle of champagne and cake! The superior room was nice. The only issue was that housekeeping did not have set times to clean the room. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the Breakfast Team were amazing! Especially Ana, Rosa, Elyas, Diana, Sebas, Adrian and Ana. They made my mother and I feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Great customer service! I think the Reception staff need to improve their customer service skills! We will definitely return to this hotel.

We loved hotel 1898. Great location, warm welcoming staff, amazing cocktails (Mojitos are too good), delightful spa make this a great choice. The only reason we couldn’t give an excellent rating was due to faulty air con in our room. That aside I would highly recommend.

Stayed here quite a few times and although the prices are creeping up it’s still the best hotel in Barcelona, staff amazing , beds are just incredibly comfortable! Slick check in, great facilities!!!

This hotel was absolutely amazing! The staff was super friendly. Eyder the bartender gave an amazing cocktail master class complimentary for guests. Super super kind. I loved my experience here. The spa was to die for, and the rooms were so spacious.

Absolutely perfect stay , even for just a couple of days it was a pleasure visiting once more this hotel. The personnel , the atmosphere, the location cannot be recommended enough. Centrally located next to …everything. The roof garden is always a great and relaxing choice to spend a few hours.
