Had a lovely stay here while visiting family in Barcelona. Centrally-located so makes for an easy walk almost anywhere. Staff was fantastic. Roof bar and pool (heated) a huge plus, especially for the view of the city. Spa is nice but somewhat small. Didn't take advantage of spa services so can't comment, but steam/sauna/pool are adequate for a smaller hotel...

Good value for money, best location, great pools that are even better in the winter as both are heated, very friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable and big lobby. The down sides - our room was very small with a view to other rooms in the hotel, bed not so comfortable (not fixed to the wall so you can't lean...

We loved this hotel! We booked a "superior room" and it was a very large room. The hotel was really clean and their staff was extremely helpful and friendly. It's right on La Rambla and was in between two Metro stations and a short walk to the waterfront. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is 5 min walk distance from Plaza Catalonia, with rooms with a view to the Rambla in a great historic building. Rooms are very large, very well kept and so are the bathrooms. Great bed and pillows and you can definitely get a great rest and sleep. All the perks of a 5* hotel. Great spa area. Fabulous...

On the bus ride from the airport to the hotel, our friends who were traveling with us, had a medical item stolen from the luggage rack on the bus. At the hotel, the young man, Anthony, at the reception desk, was most helpful. In fact, he was approached by us more than once in the course of our stay at...

The location was perfect and everything at the hotel was perfect. The room, especially the bathroom was great. My medical device was stolen on the airport shuttle. The entire staff at Hotel 1898 from reception to the bellmen did anything and everything to help me.

Fabulous hotel located in an excellent location in the heart of the city. Everything was catered for, you had a clean welcoming spar down stairs after a day sight seeing, a brilliant roof top terrace and the reception and cocktail bar (though a little pricey) where worth paying for when meeting up with friends - Barcelona,, if you wander down...

The whole hotel experience was excellent from start to finish. You couldn't fault the staff, cleanliness of the hotel. The roof terrace is a must even if it's just for the views. The comfort of the beds and pillows was unbelievable. A great trip and would stay again.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel and found it clean and well appointed. Unhappy to see them take a photocopy of my credit card upon checkin. It's unprofessional. Staff told me it was a normal practice and that I had to accept it. Quite insane. Didn't feel like spoiling the mood so didn't bother.

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
