I spent 3 days at Hotel 1898 and liked it. I'd booked a Superior room on the 3rd floor with a view over Las Ramblas. Very good bed, pillow menu, and good products in the very nice bathroom. The hotel bar (lobby level) is pretty quiet but has friendly staff. The only issue with the hotel is that it is...

We were only staying in Barcelona for 2 nights, so wanted a hotel which was in a very central location and this hotel couldn't have been better. When we arrived we were informed that we had been upgraded to a Superior Room from a Classic so that was a nice surprise. Our room was on the corner of La Rambla...

Impeccable from the moment of arrival when the Concierge led my car on foot to the parking parting other traffic and pedestrians like Moses crossing the Red Sea. This place has style! We have stayed at the best hotels in Barcelona but this tops them all. The tasteful decoration throughout together with the friendly and helpful staff give a personal...

This hotel is in a great location and that's as far as it goes. The staff were rude and not helpful. Very noisy you could here everything from out side and the room next to you. It sounds like a plane taking off every minute or so from the underground station.

We stayed for three days in February. The location is fabulous, the service is very good and the rooms and facilities are excellent. Our room faced the back which was a little noisy on the weekend nights as there is an outdoor cafe below, but thats to be expected in such a prime location. The rooms are really nicely decorated,...

This hotel was an oasis in the middle of La Rambla. It was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The service was also perfect with the staff going out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were very comfortable with hard wood floors and soft, clean, white bedding. The bathroom was large and well appointed. There was a hot water...

We stayed two nights in January and had great time, rums are clean and everything looks new and clean. Hotel is based on la Ramblas - and just outside is lovely restaurant and very reasonably priced - sorry forgot its name. The hotel has rooftop bar and swimming pool, shame bar was closed, but swimming pool was great, heated and...

My husband and I have just returned from a trip to Barcelona staying at 1898 Hotel from 13th to 17th Feb. We cannot praise this hotel and all of its staff highly enough. Reception staff are helpful and polite, as are the spar, bar and restaurant staff. The housekeeping staff do a tremendous and often thankless task of keeping the...

Stayed here for 3 nights in November. Situated just off of Las Ramblas, the location is fantastic, and since it's just off the main avenue, you don't get any of that foot traffic or noise right outside the hotel. The lobby is spacious and elegant (they play movies 24 hours a day in the lounge!) and the lobby bar is...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
